Activity/Tour
‘Villagestay & Trekking in Solomon Islands’ is a holiday package designed for individual or group of people who have enthusiasm and passionate about adventures in a beautiful country such as Solomon Islands with diversity in people, culture and their environment.
Also, it is a program designed to encourage and engage the rural and remote populace of Solomon Islands to participate in an eco-friendly tourism development which will be rewarded with benefits such as creation of employment and have a small but a steady income source. It is our belief that through such initiative, it will generate a small but steady income to meet basic, educational needs and at the same time raise the standard of living in the remote and rural Solomon Islands. As such, you are encouraged and recommended to use our program should you wish to make positive changes directly to the lives of the Solomon Islanders who live in the rural and remote locations in Solomon Islands.

The package offers activities such as villagestay, trekking, hiking, cultural entertainments, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, fishing, diving and more enjoyable activities that you have never dreamt of but would be amazed to learn.
Villagestay offers you the opportunity to have first hand experiences to living and surviving in a local and natural environment in different islands or provinces in Solomon Islands. You will be amazed to see and learn that locals can survive without electricity, supermarkets, banks and other essential services that people in developed countries have dependent upon for their survival.

You will be accommodated in a local thatched leaf roof lodge or rest house which is a cool experience, witness and learn how to cook food in hot stone oven and stem cook in wooden bowl or bamboo. You may accompany your host to the garden to harvest crops such as taro, yam, potato, cassava, and collect cabbage which will be prepared for your lunch or evening meals.
Toilet may be a private walled pit latrine which is conveniently located some metres away from the lodge or rest house.
There are other activities that are provided by your hosts which include excursions to caves, forests, waterfalls, rivers or other attraction sites, meet and interact with villagers. If the location of your villagestay is at or near the coast, your activities will include swimming, fishing, diving and snorkeling in the sea to view reefs, its inhabitants and the marine ecosystem at large.

Trekking is walking on bush trails to reach your destination on another location of the island. There are two common trekking routes. One is cross over island trekking and the second one is coastal trekking. Crossover island trekking is walking on bush trails across the island by climbing mountains, valleys, leaping on rocks and stones, crossing rivers, streams and camping at night or villagestay before getting to your destination. You will have the opportunity for sightseeing of plants including the floras, faunas, insects, animals and have an experience of the natural rain forest. Crossover Island trekking on Guadalcanal Island takes at least four to five nights to reach your destination which is on the opposite end of the Island. During the trek, you will only come across at most two remote villages in highlands before reaching your destination which is on the opposite end of the island.

In coastal trekking, you will follow the bush trails at the coast to get to your destination during which you will visit local villages, meet and interact with villagers, cultural entertainments and understand more about people and cultures.
We sincerely hope that the adventure package will offer you unique experiences about Solomon Islands, a country with diversity in nature, people and cultures. At the same time, your contribution will go directly to the disadvantaged remote and rural Solomon Islanders who are struggling daily to meet their basic needs, educational needs and raise the standard of living in Solomon Islands.
