INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS;

DESCRIPTION

We would like to offer you the opportunity to improve your level of spoken English through the concept of immersion. This we achieve by using a successful, dynamic system, bringing together native English speakers from a number of countries, and our clients who desire a better level of English for work, travel or for personal reasons. Our programme is the only one of its kind in Greece!

It is based on creating an ENGLISH ONLY environment and our number one tool is conversation. Clients will be expected to engage in up to 10 hours of conversation each day for the entire course which will last for 5 days, giving a total of 50 hours. We wish to maintain a fun and exciting programme so that each person takes home the full experience.

Each day will begin at 9.00am and will end at 8.00pm, giving a total of 10 hours conversation time per day. We intend for it to be residential because it allows us to be in the same location early in the morning and not have to worry about getting home after 8.00pm at night. However if a student lives in the locality and wishes to go home each night, that is fine, but must be present at 9.00am to begin the day, and be there until 8.00pm each night.

Our students must already have at least a low intermediate level of English for the course to be a success. This is because our Anglophones are not qualified teachers and our programme is not about teaching English. It is for those who use English perhaps in the tourism industry, or in international business and communicate with people from various parts of the world. We will use the English that they already know and broaden that knowledge.

All clients will interact with each Anglophone on a 1-to-1 basis more than once, and some sessions will be held in a group setting to encourage teamwork. This may take place in the form of comedy, drama, presentations or quizzes etc. Everything is informal, with no classroom situations at all. Motivation and a great personality are helpful as is a sense of humour. It is very important that everyone taking part, students and Anglophones contribute as much effort as possible, and that includes being on time for meals and sessions.

Our mission is to end the programme with our clients feeling much more proficient and confident about talking to native speakers or others through the English language. This is helped by the fact that the Anglophones will be from a variety of countries, have unique accents and a wealth of life stories to talk about. Cultural exchange is also a crucial aspect. Share the Greek spirit and experience, and learn about other countries.

Clients and English speakers must be at least 18 years old and may be male or female, and come from any lifestyle or profession. English is strictly the only language that is allowed in the programme because this way our clients are focused 100% on English, and we want them to think in English also. This method has been a great success in other countries for years with the results being language enrichment and friendships for life.

This is a sample of how a regular day would be planned.
It includes lots of one-to-one sessions and also activities as a group.

9.00am - 10.00am; Breakfast. Students and Anglophones will be mixed 50-50.
10.00am - 11.00am; 1-to-1 session. One student and one Anglophone will have a free conversation.
11.00am - 12.00pm; 1-to-1 session.
12.00pm - 1.00pm; 1-to-1 session.
1.00pm - 2.00pm; Group activity. May be any of a number of formats to bring the group together.
2.00pm - 3.00pm; Lunch. Still part of programme time so it will be set up for mixed conversation.
3.00pm - 4.00pm; 1-to-1 session.
4.00pm - 5.00pm; 1-to-1 session.
5.00pm - 6.00pm; 1-to-1 session.
6.00pm - 8.00pm; Presentations (By non-native speakers).

We will combine walks to ancient sites with our 1-to-1 sessions.

There is only one fee to be paid for the programme and it is 450 euros, which includes accommodation. (300 euros without accommodation). There are no other costs or charges. This price covers accommodation for 5 days, meals, stationary supplies, administration, organization and 50 hours of direct English.
