Wellwood bed and breakfast is located in the small community of Kenny Lake, Alaska, in the heart of the Copper River Country. This region is bounded by four major mountain ranges: the Alaska Range to the north; the Wrangell Mountains to the east; the Chugach Mountains to the south; and the Talkeetna Mountains to the west. The Copper River Valley is a land filled with natural wonder. Spruce forests stretch to the horizon. Streams teem with salmon. Looming volcanic peaks, massive glaciers, turbulent rivers, fabled deposits of copper, and the lore of its peoples, ancient and modern, combine to make this a land of unique intrigue and adventure. The Copper River Valley contains the largest park in the nation, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Communities to visit during your stay at Wellwood Center include: Kennecott/McCarthy, Glennallen, Copper Center, Kenny Lake, Chitina, Paxson, and Valdez.

Accommodations

Wellwood b & b offers comfortable, modern, home-like lodging for your visit to Copper River Country. The B & B is in an attractive wood-sided home located at the start of a system of trails that wind through the forest and along a creek. An easy walk leads to spectacular views of the Wrangell and Chugach Mountains, with a overlook above the glacial Tonsina River.

Rooms/Suites

Three bedrooms provide the comfort of queen-sized mattresses, with options for twin beds. A full kitchen offers convenience for meals and refreshements. The B & B includes a full living room and a full bath. Unless otherwise specified, the bath is shared with other guests. A private bath may be available if desired. The living area and all bedrooms have hardwood floors. The entire facility (Grand Suite) can be rented as a unit for a substantial savings over the individual room rates.

Amenities

Wellwood Bed and Breakfast provides free-of-charge wireless Internet access to all guests. Several restaurants are within short driving distance. The living room area is suitable for meetings of small groups.

No smoking is permitted within the building.

Rates & Availability

Individual rooms, suitable for two people, are available for $114 USD per night. Discounts are offered for stays longer than two days, and for off-season reservations. The entire "Grand Suite" may be rented for $270 per night, a significant savings over single room rates.

Nature tours are available several times per week during summer months.

Directions

Wellwood Bed and Breakfast is located at mile 5.75, on the south side of the Edgerton Highway. This is the main access road to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the United States. The park entrance is less than 30 miles past our B & B. The Edgerton Highway intersects the Richardson Highway about 90 road miles north of Valdez. For a location map, please visit our website.
