Fairfield is one of Iowa's chosen "Destination Cities" as well as an Entrepreneurial Capital for the State. it has a surprisingly rich collection of businesses, both large and small, a huge interest in the arts ( over 350 artists, an eclectic cuisine and many unique shops. Fairfield is also home to Maharishi University of Management, a small University with students from 58 countries and focuses on "Consciousness-based Education". The influence of the university has been to enliven an interest in Health and Spirituality, Health Spa's, organic foods and dairy, and a commitment by the Mayor to have the town Sustainable by 2012. It is a forward thinking town, with a healthy economy, vibrant interest in expansion, and supports a 3 year old Performing Arts and Convention Center with a State-of the Arts-502 seat Theater.
The Mainstay inn is the most elegant refined environment in town, and the only luxury accommodations located downtown. We are in the heart of the Cultural District, directly across from the new Sondheim Performing Arts Center, and just a block from Fairfield's many unique shops and restaurants. The historic 1890's building is on the Historic Walking Tour. and has been totally renovated and updated before opening in 2007. The furnishings provide an ambiance of old European elegance, with an exciting collection of fine original art.
Each room is furnished with a Queen sized bed, and great effort has been taken to provide luxurious natural fiber linens, organic cotton towels, natural soap/shampoo amenities and a chemical free environment.
There is a business center offering free PC access as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the building.
The rooms are large enough to be used for group gatherings, business presentations, parties or concerts.
Full concierge services are provided and we are happy to arrange for Spa treatments either locally or in your room.
