The Oakridge Hostel sits in the middle of year round recreation paradise. The town of 3,300 residents is above the fog and below the snow at 1200' elevation.

Highway 58, a main east-west route between Interstate 5 and Highway 97 passes through Oakridge. Weekday bus service is available to and from the university town of Eugene [pop: 137,000] to Oakridge.

Mountain bikers find ample single track just a few miles from the hostel door and a vast array of forest service roads to explore. Road bikers enjoy miles of paved roads with very little car traffic and the cool canopy of the conifer and deciduous forest.

Downhill and cross country skiers are 30 minutes from excellent trails and slopes at 5000'. Hikers will find miles of trails at low elevation along rivers and streams and plenty of more challenging trails in the alpine country, including the Pacific Crest Trail at Willamette Pass.

Those who enjoy fishing will find reservoirs, streams, high lakes, and rivers with easy access and very fine sport fishing conditions. Wildlife is abundant in the forest. It is common to observe deer, elk, coyote, and a wide variety of birds including scrub jay, osprey, blue heron, mountain quail and bald eagle.

From Portland/PDX
Take Interstate 5 South from Portland for approximately 90 miles to Exit #188; then follow Hwy #58 East for approximately 45 miles to Oakridge, Oregon. Upon entering the town of Oakridge turn left at the only traffic light (onto Crestview) and follow th signs to the Oakridge Hostel. The Hostel is approximately 1/2 mile from the traffic light on Hwy. #58.

From Eugene
Take Interstate 5 South from Eugene to Exit #188 and follow Hwy #58 East for approximately 45 miles to Oakridge, Oregon. Upon entering the town of Oakridge turn left at the only traffic light (onto Crestview) and follow the signs to the Oakridge Hostel. The Hostel is approximately 1/2 mile from the traffic light on Hwy. #58.

From Ashland And All Points South
Follow Interstate 5 North to Exit #188 and follow Hwy #58 East for approximately 45 miles to Oakridge, Oregon. From Bend
Take Hwy #97 South to the Crescent Cutt Off. Follow the Cut Off from Hwy # 97 to Hwy #58. Take Hwy #58 West towards the town of Oakridge. Upon entering the town of Oakridge turn right at the only traffic light (onto Crestview) and follow the signs to the Oakridge Hostel. The Hostel is approximately 1/2 mile from the traffic light on Hwy. #58.
