Tomato Rooms is situated in Taichung City (the 3rd largest city in Taiwan) in the University area of Feng Chia, a location well known in Taichung City as a centre of food, shopping, late-night action and vibrant youth culture. Taichung is also a great base for making day trips out to Sun Moon Lake or other nearby areas that are popular with both locals and backpackers. Our hostel is situated very close to the well-known bustling Feng Chia Night Market one of Taichung�s most famous Night Markets. Regarded as the central business districts most popular night market, open 7 days a week, but weekends ensure a packed crowd coming to Feng Chia. The most important feature is the popular and 'bargain basement' assortment of merchandise, ranging from the latest and most popular �IN� fashion and accessories, to small items of curiosity and amusement. Make sure not only to stroll too quickly (although hard to do when busy), and also to bring an empty stomach as the range of food stalls stretches out northward past the main market, to the point you feel it will never end. While there enjoy the people watching and company of the university crowd who fill the place with the vitality of youth, so that shopping district is filled with a young atmosphere that can be enjoyed by everyone. The shopping street, the mood of the people, events and celebrations! To the variety of snacks and long queues at the most popular stalls makes for quite an unforgettable time and memories. Feng Chia Night Market, so called because of it proximity to Feng Chia University, caters to the student budget and interests, so this is the place, to eat drink and enjoy the evening from your nearby accommodation (without blowing the budget). 「How to find us?」
When you arrive at Feng Chia University Bus Stop ( 逢甲大學 or 西安街 in Chinese script) on 'Fu Xing North Road' go down the short road 'Fengjia Road'(Left at the McDonalds on the corner) towards Feng Chia University entrance (large concrete entrance gate), turn left (at the Hi-life store), and go straight down this narrow road 'Wen Hua Road' for about 5-10 minute (walking) to reach us. You will pass a Mos Burger on the right which is part of the large FCU Wenhuae Innovation Center entrance (we are about 250 meters from here). Keep walking past the first Family Mart towards the second one (before you reach the second Family Mart watch for a Laya Bagel on the right). Turn right into the next alley after Laya Bagel ('Alley 162, Wen Hua road'). There's a Subway store on the corner at the start of this alley. Our office is the twelfth door on the right-hand side of the alley about 35 meters down. We are across from the Hair Salon. Please enter our office and staff will be there to show you to your room.

'How to Reach Feng Chia University bus stop?'
-From the Regular train station: You can catch Bus numbers: 22, 25, 33, or 35 from the bus shelter out the front of the train station. The cost is 20NT (have the correct change) and will take about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Your stop 'Feng Chia University' will be announced. For visual reference: bus stop is a few stores down from a Large McDonalds on the corner, and should stop in front of a Watsons Pharmacy. This is a popular stop so many passengers should exit here. (Feng Chia University bus stop is 逢甲大學 or 西安街 in Chinese script)

If you are unfamiliar with the buses: just step on, place your money in the slot beside the driver and take a seat. There is no need to tell the driver where you are 'getting off', unless you want to. Stops will be called out in Chinese then in English (sometimes also visually displayed) when you hear your stop (eg: 'Feng Chia University') press a buzzer near you (if someone else has not already), then hop off at the stop. Sometimes the bus driver will give you a card when you enter the bus, if this happens don't pay first, just wait until your stop swipe the card when exiting and pay the amount displayed (don't forget to return the card also).

-From the High Speed Rail Station (THSR): The small shuttle bus from here to Feng Chia University is FREE(when you take the THSR to Taichung)!. When you arrive at the train station head downstairs towards the bus departure area (opposite side to the Taxi departures) then make your way to where the THSR shuttles depart (downstairs on the right-hand side) The shuttle to catch is number 12. Line up at the number 12 sign (the shuttle that goes to the Overseas Chinese University) and hop on the shuttle when it arrives. Shuttle departs approx every 20 minutes. The trip will take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic, and Feng Chia University is the second last stop, press the buzzer when this stop is announced (if needed). For visual reference: bus stop is a few stores down from a Large McDonalds on the corner, and should stop in front of a Watsons Pharmacy. This is a popular stop so many passengers should exit here. -From the Airport (Taoyuan): (Terminal 1) Head to your left when you exit immigration into the arrivals hall, towards the bus departures area. There will be a number of booths for different bus companies that offer services to Taichung, times for these services should be displayed. Approach the appropriate booth and purchase a ticket to Taichung. If they offer a choice of 'drop off' points in Taichung city request Feng Chia U0niversity ( 逢甲大學 or 西安街 in Chinese script) or a stop closest to this location, because Feng Chia is in the north of the city this drop off point will most likely be one of the first. Try to obtain a map of the drop off points from the company and mark your stop, to avoid any complications show this to the driver to make sure he knows where you want to get off. don't forget to ask where the bus departs and the bus number. We recommend U-Bus as we understand it is the least expensive, but there are many different companies to choose from.
