Better Farm is an artists' retreat and education center set on 65 acres in rural Redwood, N.Y., just 10 miles from the St. Lawrence River, Thousand Islands, and Canadian border.

We host workshops and retreats throughout the year, and offer full-time workshare and rental programs for the curious and creative. We have rooms available year-round for overnight and short-term guests as well.

Better Farm is within close proximity to dozens of lakes for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and boating (rentals available); as well offering great access to snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and more in winter months. We have an on-site herb garden, vegetable patch, composting station, and pond.

Directions

From all points south:

Route 81 North to Exit 49 (Rte. 411)
Right off of ramp onto 411
Left at blinking light (Rte. 37)
After about 11 miles, turn Right onto Cottage Hill Road in Redwood
Better Farm is 3 miles up the road on your right.

We offer complimentary pick-up service from the bus station in Watertown (service from all points nationally) and the shuttle drop-off point in Alexandria Bay (there is shuttle service from Syracuse).

Those flying in to Syracuse can take a shuttle to Alexandria Bay or a bus to Watertown.
