Learn Spanish in Colombia. The Amazon Spanish College offers a unique opportunity to study Spanish, Amazon studies, volunteer and discover the Amazon rainforest. Our Spanish language school is located in the heart of Leticia on the triple border between Colombia, Peru and Brazil and only few minutes away from the Amazon River and its spectacular eco-system. We offer spanish courses at all levels, free social and cultural activities and volunteer work.

Typical Day

General timetable for the different courses:
All weekdays, 09:00-12:00, Standard Spanish, cultural activities 2 times a week (Wednesday and Friday) 15:00-17:30.

All weekdays, 09:00-12:00, Spanish and dance, dance (Tuesday, Thursday) 2 times a week 15:00-17:30, cultural activities 2 times a week (Wednesday and Friday) 15:00-17:30.

All weekdays, 09:00-12:00, 13:30-14:30 Intensive Spanish, cultural activities 2 times a week (Wednesday and Friday) 15:00-17:30.

All weekdays, 09:00-12:00, 13:30-14:30 One-to-one, cultural activities 2 times a week (Wednesday and Friday) 15:17:30.

All weekdays, 09:00-12:00, Spanish and Amazon Studies, Amazon studies (Tuesday, Thursday) 2 times a week 17:00-19:30, cultural activities 2 times a week (Wednesday and Friday) 15:30-17:30.

In the Volunteer & Spanish Course, the volunteer work will be between 14:00-18:00 Monday to Thursday and the Spanish Course will be all weekdays, 09:00-12:00.

We welcome students in all ages from all over the world. We also facilitate for families to study spanish.

Sleeping and meals

We offer two different options of accommodation in Leticia: at the Amazon Spanish College bungalows, located in the school's building and at local host families.

Staying in bungalow at the college
Here, The Amazon Spanish College offers accommodation for those who enjoy contact with other students from different parts of the world and who love to live within the city center of Leticia, at one block from the Main Square.

Breakfast is included in this option. There are a total of 6 comfortable bungalows at the college. Each of them has two rooms, a main room with double or single beds and a smaler room with a hammock. The Bungalows have private shower/WC, ceiling fan, safetybox and a deck with a pergola so you can study outside your bungalow protected from direct sunshine.

The College has many nice study areas and here you can enjoy a green and friendly atmosphere. The Amazon Spanish College takes care of the bedding and cleaning of the shared areas and the bungalows.

Staying with a host family
Our host families belong to Colombian middle class, although students should take note that living standards in Colombia are generally lower than in Europe or North America. Family homes are located in neighborhoods usually no more than a 10 minute walk to the school. Participants choosing to stay with a family should recognize that a certain degree of flexibility will be required to adjust to the Colombian customs and way of life.

The guest family option has been developed particularly for individuals who wish to make a cultural journey, aiming not only to learn the Spanish language but also about Colombia, through the experiences, life and customs of a Colombian family. The Amazon Spanish College guest families are carefully chosen and monitored through regular inspections and student feedback. The student will always have his/her own private room and share other facilities with the family. Guest families provide breakfast and dinner. Special diets, such as those for vegetarians and diabetics may be catered.

The Amazon Spanish College language programs include a dynamic, interesting and fun leisure agenda that is complementary to the process of learning the Spanish language. All activities are geared towards socializing in a learning environment and increasing the student's knowledge of Colombian culture and the Amazon. The Cultural and Social Activities are included at no additional cost in the price of the classroom based Spanish course.
