Dar Liouba is a former Imam's home re-designed into a sophisticated guesthouse filled with plants and carved cedar wood
Dar means house in Arabic and Liouba is a Russian endearment for love - a great deal of which went into creating this airy, stylish abode. It was a Russian furniture designer who first created and ran this guesthouse with her Chinese-French jewellery-making partner, and whose brilliant hospitality brought rave reviews. Their inspiration to add another storey to this former Imam's home created a wonderful, almost gazebo-like interior.
A pergola rises three floors from the interior courtyard of this former Imam’s house, culminating in an octagonal skylight.

This intriguing structure provides each bedroom with a charming cedarwood balcony, from which you look down into a small internal garden that is a specific feature of these town houses.

Rooms/Suites

We have 6 rooms and a suite (apartment) placed on 3 levels, with comfort: Kinédorsal-bed, arabo-andalous architecture, these rooms are bright and sunny, cosy and romantic.

Our prices are for two people in b&b, with welcome tea, mineral water and home made biscuits in the room.


The Suite : LAVANDE
Sunny, airy private apartment on the 3rd floor, looking over the indoor flowered patio, decorated in shades of pink, light grey, and white. It consists of a large sitting area, with views over the old city, dining corner, bookshelf, TV and DVD reader, dressing room, one comfortable double room, fireplace in the corner, and a bathroom with a bathtub, and separate toilets.

It is possible to have 3 extra beds in the living room.

“OCEAN “and “CIEL” …our blue rooms.
Large, very sunny double rooms, on the 1st or 2nd floor, windows looking over the Medina and equipped with a fireplace.

Decorated in blue, beige, and white, comfortable double bed, fireplace in the corner with armchairs, private bathroom with seated shower and the possibility to add a third bed upon request (extra).



“OLIVIER” and “ARGANIER”… our green rooms
Sunny, airy rooms , on the 1st and 2nd floors, Arganier is a twin-room ; Olivier a twin or a three- bed room , windows look over a quiet little street .These two rooms can be changed in double bedroom.

Decorated in shades of green, bronze, burgundy and white, these single beds can be changed to a king size bed. Private bathroom with seated shower.



“PIMENT” and “POURPRE “…our red rooms
Double rooms, quiet, cosy, and romantic, on the 1st and 2nd floors, window overlooking the indoor flowered patio.

Decorated in shades of red, orange and white, nice wood roof, comfortable double bed, and private bathroom with a shower.

We have a flat roof terrace, with a panoramic view over the city and ocean; it is a great 360° view upon Essaouira: the medina, the new town, the ocean from North to South, the hills on the road to Marrakech...and the "Mogador Island”.There, we can serve breakfast and meals on request. You can also do a bit of sunbathing!
