This morning brings one of the most dramatic drives in the state. As your Alaskan tour heads north to Chickaloon, the Knik Glacier reveals its full glory. The Matanuska River winds its way north beside us, cutting a cavern of beauty through the Matanuska Valley. As we arrive in Chickaloon, you will enjoy either a whitewater raft adventure or a slow float raft trip.

The “Glacier Run”, a scenic glacier float trip is great for relaxed sightseeing and photo opportunities. This easily negotiable class 1-2 water makes it a great way to experience rafting and the great outdoors while drifting by the Matanuska Glacier. You will be outfitted in rain jackets and overall pants as well as with tall boots, This raft excursion lasts 2 ½ hours.

The “Lion's Head” thrilling raft trip offers the roar of whitewater. This is an excellent first-timers whitewater trip that is popular with experienced enthusiast as well. The most popular trip for over 28 years, this class 3 & 4 whitewater experience offers you a hand-on adventure. You will be outfitted in full dry suits over your clothing with dry water shoes. This raft excursion lasts 3 ½ hours. In the afternoon, it's off to Sheep Mountain Lodge, for a bite to eat. Sheep Mountain Lodge offers spectacular homemade soups, triple berry pie, and try their glacier cookies drizzled in chocolate syrup!! This area is also a famous viewing area for Dall sheep. So keep your cameras handy.

After an hour for lunch, it's off to glacier trekking. Discover the true beauty of glaciers up close & personal. Experience glacier walking or hiking and the natural history of the Matanuska Glacier. Enjoy the splendor of the “frozen river” as you walk out to a scenic lake hidden under the face of an ice fall. No experience is necessary to join in the fun! Age range, type of groupkeyboard_double_arrow_up
The youngest visitor we have hosted was 1 year old, however we suggest the children be 5 yrs as a minimum so they can partake in all the activites. The most experienced gentleman we have hosted was a young 91 years and he thouroughly enjoyed every part of our adventure - joined in where he could, rested aong the way, added life and color to all our conversations, as well as knew the meaning of "living life to the fullest!"
Sleeping and mealskeyboard_double_arrow_up
Our accommodations are all premium properties, (for Alaska - as we are a bit more rustic here). All private bathrooms, some with jetted tubs, king or queen beds, and never any camping.

Hearty Continental breakfasts are included as well as some lunches & dinners depending on the tour your choose (approximately 60% of yoru meals are included). A restaurant guide is provided by your tour escort, and you can choose your own selections daily.
Policies & Restrictionskeyboard_double_arrow_up
Our tours are generally non-smoking, however, as we do have many hours outdoors, you would have the opportunity to smoke out of doors away from other guests.

Unfortunatley we cannot allow pets as we do not have the facilities to host them correctly.

When viewing our tours, you will note some of our tours are for families... hosting children between 1 - 15 yrs and then there are other departure dates that host adults only (16 yrs and up). Choose which type of tour fits your travel desire best.
