If you’ve been traveling awhile and feel that all Campgrounds look alike, Montana Creek Campground will offer a refreshing change of pace… perennial gardens, displays of wildflowers and a variety of berries tucked between birch and spruce trees; view bald eagles fishing for salmon and trout from the creek, grouse and ptarmigan fluttering past, and not to leave out the occasional moose or nosey black bear meandering nearby. Venture onto one of many walking trails lining the creek leading to the mouth of the creek at the Susitna River or up into the mountains.

Portions of the campground are carpeted with lawns; others are beautifully forested, leaving privacy between many of the sites. Several sites are equipped with electric hook-ups; there are also pull-through sites for the larger campers along with smaller sites, accommodating our guests. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring and BBQ grill. The tackle cache and store on the premises sells fishing gear, tackle and licenses, and rents fishing equipment when available. You’ll find snacks for your backpack, groceries, ice, firewood, and souvenirs. Montana Creek Campground also has a reputation for cleanliness and friendliness.

This is a nice campground and close to Talkeetna. The campground is a pretty place with a small store. The people were very nice and helpful. The guy who takes care of the grounds came over and helped us get set up and get our picnic table by the camper. There is a stream behind the campground where my boys fished for a while. It has trout in it as they caught a small one in a short amount of time. There are sites in the open and some that are wooded. Our open site was very nice and level ... more
