The SJI Hostel is located in Santurce, the hip arts district of downtown San Juan. In this neighborhood decorated by many beautiful murals, you will be among the real people of San Juan and have a chance to experience true puertorique�idad. As you approach our locale, you�ll notice the less touristy atmosphere in the form of lower prices and more authentic interactions with those around you. We are a short walk away from San Juan�s spectacular Art Museum, and a twenty minute, fifty cent bus ride from the cobblestone streets of the colorful colonial city of Old San Juan.
Is our area dangerous? Of course not, we love it and would not be here if it was. We see ourselves as more than a hostel; we are also part of the experience you will remember during your amazing time in PR.

We keep our price low and our standards high. We have a very relaxed way of operating. We prefer to settle you in, show you the things you need to know then send you off to the beach to explore, who knows we might just put the sign on the door and join you. We are staffed by a loyal team and this is the relaxed vibe we want to pass onto you, it�s the way we do things here in the Caribbean.

QUALITY STANDARDS AND ACCOMMODATION:
We have a total 16 beds in 3 dormitories and one Basic Private Room meaning the hostel is the perfect size to make friends and enjoy a great group atmosphere.

Here is a little description of the layout of our accommodations,

2 dorms MIXED with 2 bunk beds (4 Twin beds). Air Conditioning provided from 8:00pm to 8:00am. Individual high-speed fans provided all day and mosquito proof doors and windows.
1 dorm MIXED with 3 bunk beds (6 Twin beds). NO Air Conditioning . Individual high-speed fans provided and mosquito proof doors and windows.
1 PRIVATE small and basic room with 1 bunk bed (two twins), Includes a wash basin, lockers, air fans, table and chair. Air Conditioning provided from 8:00pm to 8:00am. Please Note- This room does not have a double bed. See the room photo before booking.

No one under 18 is admitted without a parent or legal guardian. All of which requires an advanced notice.

NO PASSPORT IS NEEDED FOR US CITIZENS; however, an ID is required.

Directions

BY BUS

Buses at the airport come by about every 40 minutes from 6:00am to until 6:00pm during regular working days/hours. Out of those; it will take longer. Buses stop running at 9:00pm.

At the upper level of the Luis Munoz Marin International airport look for the chapel. Near chapel the bus stop. Take bus route # 40 or # 50 to Isla Verde by the Isla Verde Dennys restaurant (across the Cockfights Coliseum).

Before getting off you may want find from the driver where to catch bus route # T-5 to Santurce. Once in # T-5 step out at Santurce, Bus Stop 22. Only coins, (no bills) at the buses. Price is $0.75 each. Oversize luggage not allowed.

Upon getting off at Bus Stop 22 you will be facing Santurce Dennys restaurant. Look to your right and notice the big wall/traffic light (sign Expreso De Diego). Walk to that traffic light and turn left so you re walking against & along the big wall side of the street. Careful; buses running against traffic in an exclusive lane.

Keep going south until the next traffic light, (Avenida Manuel Fernandez Juncos). Check for the yellow building, Ultima Parada; a 24hrs gas station/convenience store. Cross the Avenida Manuel Fernandez Juncos and keep going straight forward to your second RIGHT onto Calle America.

The hostel will be on your left almost at the end of the block. 1452 Calle America (UPPER LEVEL). Just ring the bell.
