Surrounding Area

We are located on the unspoiled island of Eleuthera which is about an hour's flight from Miami or Fort Lauderdale and a 16 minute flight from Nassau. Our Property is right in the middle of the island and 6 minutes away from the Governors Harbour Airport and 6 minutes from the town of Governors Harbour. Our location offers a great place for exploring the island both North and South. There are lots of things to do here for those who like the island life. There is diving to the North and to the South and we can arrange fishing excursions, both deep sea and bonefishing. There are lots of undisturbed beaches to explore, some of which are the famous "pink sand". For those who want to simply relax, there are lots of unspoiled spots to do just that, and you can snorkel just about anywhere here. This is a charming place off of the beaten path...friendly people and great food and a welcoming atmosphere. We have "Fish Fry" every Friday night and it is truly as if you have landed in the middle of a postcard. It is a time when locals and guests get together for homemade island food, beers and "punch" and dance in the streets along a small bay next to picturesque Cupids Cay, which is the first settlement in the Bahamas. If you want to go to casino, this is not the place for you, but if you want a taste of island life, the way it used to be, we are a great choice and should you want a little more action, we are about a 40 minute drive from Harbour Island, which is a great day trip.

Accommodations

Each of our rooms is a 2 bedroom suite with a king bedroom and a twin bedroom which has two twin beds. Each air-conditioned suite has an en-suite bathroom, living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen (full size refrigerator, gas stove, oven, microwave, plates/glasses, utensils, cookware and coffee maker) with eat up bar and seating. We also have ceiling fans, satellite tv, dvd players, free wifi, and in room safes. Our suites are large, the smallest being around 830sf and the largest is around 1150sf. In addition, we are an eco-friendly property (one of the few in the Bahamas). We have solar hot water heating, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, low VOC paint, solar PV with propane generator and an on site organic garden.

Amenities

There is great local music and cool bars/restaurants on the beach where you can mingle with the locals or simply enjoy time away from your busy life at home. Everyone is welcoming, but if you want to be alone, it is Bahamian tradition to respect your privacy. We include a book in each of our suites that details all of the things to do, places to go with directions and phone numbers to get you to the right places.

Other Information

We offer Direct TV and wireless internet and in room phones (for some rooms) for local calls, but as with everything in the islands, sometimes these things go out inexplicably. When they do, we make every effort to get them back on as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. US cell phones and global cell phones work here very well, but calls are expensive. We suggest getting a "world plan" from your provider before you come. It is easy to do. Batelco also sells phone cards that can be used from any of our phones to make long distance calls. We remind everyone to turn off data roaming before you get to the islands.
