Mustang is remote and forbidden until 1991. The trek in to the kingdom of Mustang is an unforgettable experience, lying behind the main mountain in the rain shadow area. Mustang is just out into the plateau, north of Jomsom and Pokhara. In the capital of Mustang Lo-manthang an old walled town, undisturbed and untouched civilization life goes on as it has for centuries.

The numerous Gompas and prayers flags are performing their eternal ritual. A trip into Mustang, bound to be one of self-realization inspired by the all-encompassing teaching of Tibetan Buddhism.

This trip begins with a flight from Pokhara followed by one to Jomsom (2,710 m.). The next morning form Jomsom, you setout along Kaligandaki river towards Kagberi (2,870 m.). trekking past the villagers of Tambay, Chhusang and Chheley, you come to the soya La (approx. 4300 m.) and on to Shyangmochen (3,820 m.). The trail then continues to Charang, the 2nd largest village in this area. Charang is an old palace built for the king of Mustang, some 800 years ago. According to local legend the King cut the builder's hand off, to prevent constructing another building in competition. The next day you reach Lo manthang (3,820 m.). The ancient walled Capital of Mustang, where you may spend and extra day exploring Namgyal Gomba, the village of Tengar and the Gomba close by Nymook. You also can visit the villagers Guguk and Shijad, where people still live in cave dwellings cut into surrounding cliffs. The return Journey follows the same route as for Chhusang village from where you can make a day to Muktinath. Next day trek to Jomsom you can come to Pokhara by plane or trek Ghorepani Birethanti bus / van to Pokhara or Kathmandu.

Typical Day

Day 01:- Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to hotel, In the evening well come dinner.
Day 02:- Kathmandu valley sight seeing tours.
Day 03:- Drive or Flight to Pokhara.
Day 04:- Flight to Jomsom, Trek to Kagbeni. (2800M)
Day 05:- Kagbeni to Chele
Day 06:- Chele to Geling
Day 07:- Gelling to Charang
Day 08:- Charang to Lo Mantang
Day 09:- Rest day in Lo Manthang and excursion around Lo Manthang.
Day 10:- Rest day in Lo Manthang and excursion around Lo Manthang
Day 11:- Lo Manthang to Chami via Lo - Gekar
Day 12:- Ghami to Samar
Day 13:- Samar to Kagbeni
Day 14:- Kagbeni to Jomsom
Day 15:- Fly Back to Pokhara early in the morning, free day in Pokhara.
Day 16:- By flight/Drive back to Kathmandu, in the evening fare well dinner.
Day 17:- Drive to Airport for final departure

Age range, type of group

Splendid High Adventure offer to Upper Mustang trek to everyone from above 16 year of age to all age group who are physically fit for walking 5/6 hours a day in mountainous terrain.
family, couples, singles, youth vs. senior are to join the trek.

Sleeping and meals

Splendi High Adventure offer Lodge/tent accommodation in this trek as per Clients wishes.

Restrictions

No restriction on smoking and gender, pets is prohibited, age under 16 can join the trek but our trek leader may stop him/her in after certain altitude.
