The ancient Lord Krishna temple attracts thousands of devotees every day. It is among India's most important pilgrimage centres and is also known as the Dwaraka of the South. Shopping for curios and mementoes here is a favorite pastime
Tradition has it that the temple was created by Guru - the preceptor of the Devas, and Vayu - the lord of the Winds. The temple is dedicated to Krishna known here as Guruvayurappan or the Lord of Guruvayur, and the idol is said to have been worshipped by Lord Brahma himself at Dwaraka.
Cheruthuruthy (Kerala Kalamandalam)

North of Thrissur, 29km away near the Shoranur Railway Junction is Cheruthuruthy, home of the renowned repository of the tradition of the Kathakali dance form. It is in this academy that the best of Kerala's Kathakali performers get their rigorous training. The institution also offers training in music, drama, and other dance forms including Mohiniyattam, Koodiyattam and Ottam Thullal.
Athirapally and Vazhachal Falls

These are two water falls a two hours drive from Guruvayoor. The first falls is of almost 80 feet. The Vazhachal falls is 5 km further away. These falls are in the forest area. This forest road leads to Valparai a hill station with excellent tea estates.
Aanthavalam (abode of the elephants) 8 kms:

An area housing about 60 elephants offered by devotees to the Lord. Witness the nature of these giant pachyderms at close quarters.

Vadakkumnathan Temple:

This temple is a classic example of the Kerala style of architectrue. The temple contains the sacred shrines of Paramashiva, Parvathy, Sankaranarayana, Ganapathy, Sri Rama and Sri Krishna. The central shrines and Koothambalam exhibit exquisite vignettes carved in wood. Legend goes that this temple was founded by Parasurama. ' Thrissur Pooram ' the grandest temple pageantry in Kerala, is celebrated here in April -May every year
Beaches and backwaters - 9 kms :

Unspoilt beaches invite you to witness the local fishermen come home with their catch of the day. Calm and lazy backwaters located close by invite you to ride them on the traditional houseboats to explore interior Kerala and witness the fishermen cast their nets.

Treatment Concept

The Zamorin's treatment programme has its roots in Holistic approach to common health disorders. This approach sees human beings as an integral part of nature and is concerned not only with the physical well being of the patient but also his/her psychological and social life.


Treatment programme


Panchakarma is the ancient system of Ayurvedic Rejuvenation therapy designed to facilitate the removal of deep-rooted stress and toxins (vitiated doshas) in the physiology. Ayurveda recommends the cleansing of the body toxins in order to maintain well being in healthy individuals or to restore balance in those experiencing illness.

For the period of stay with us, you will be in an Ayurvedic balanced environment, away from your busy life with its patterns, stresses and responsibilities. You will begin the day with a nature walk amongst rich green Kerala countryside, followed by Yoga and meditation under expert supervision.

You will be nurtured everyday with Panchakarma tailored to your particular needs as determined by Dr VR Baji. These will include hot oil massages, herbal bolus applications, steam treatments, herbalised baths, shirodhara etc. Additional treatments such as Kati vasti, localized dhara, pouring of hot oil (pizhichil), vamanam, vasti and a variety of other procedures may be administered as appropriate for your specific health status, body constitution and medical condition.

Simple and nutritious ayurvedic vegetarian meals will be served as is indicated for specific detoxification treatment.

There will be informal discussions with Dr Baji or a guest speaker on some health, Yoga or culture related topics. In ancient times, these were known as ‘satsangs’ – meetings of truth.

What to expect

During the period of treatment you can expect to feel relaxed and will be invited to rest a lot as the countless inner channels of the body opens to create feelings of freshness and renewal. Physical and emotional toxins lodged deep within the tissues, after many years are released along with their associated bodily symptoms. Time in this environment is powerful.

A Panchakarma treatment with appropriate diet, internal medicines and exercise will result in a dramatic reduction in stress and increase in energy, as well as a reduction in 6 to 8 kg weight loss, improved flexibility, reduction in aches and pain, increased vitality and a noticeable increase in mental clarity and enthusiasm for life.

Ayurveda :

Ayurveda is a holistic healing science which comprises of two words, Ayu and Veda. Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge or science. Ayurvedic treatment does not mean suppressing the main symptoms and creating some new ones as side effects of the main treatment. It is to remove the root cause and give permanent relief.



Allopathy :

Allopathy, also known as the Modern System of Medicine, developed in the West. A system, which treats a disease with drugs having opposite effects to existing symptoms, each successive discovery and development in Allopathy, is the result of extensive research.



Therapeutic yoga :

Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago in India, and has many forms.Yoga can be a means of achieving a sense of mental and physical well being, and is also effective in the treatment of a variety of conditions ranging from stress and high blood pressure to tendonitis and muscle strain.



Meditation:

Meditation is considered a form of mental therapy. Although there are many forms of meditation, such as transcendental, Zen, and mindfulness, they all have in common the calming of the mind. It can be used to help in the management of stress,chronic pain etc.



Pranic healing:

Pranic healing is based on the techniques on how to gather and be empowered by the energies of nature (air, sun ground, water, trees) It is the latest in energy healing. It was developed at the Institute of Inner Studies in the Philippines by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, a man with a rare depth of knowledge relating to the human energy field.



Naturopathy :

Naturopathy is an eclectic compilation of doctrines and practices of natural healing, as well as a way of life, and a concept of employing various practical holistic means of preventing and treating human imbalance and suffering. The capacity of the body-mind to heal itself is the central tenet of Naturopathy.


Homeopathy :

Used worldwide by over 500 million people, is based upon the "law of similars"-that is, illnesses are treated with substances which, in their natural state, are capable of producing symptoms of the illness, yet develop the power to cure those same symptoms when homeopathically prepared into their extremely dilute counterparts.
