Summary

From the typical village of Porto Covo, along coastal and fishermen’s trails we walk the fantastic coastline of southeast Alentejo bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. We will cross beautiful desert beaches and cliffs with sand dunes of lots of colours from white to red, and orange to yellow! Enjoy crossing river Mira on typical boat over the village of Mil Fontes.

Near cape Sardão, a beautiful promontory over the sea we can see the white stork, the only in the world that have nests on the seashore rocks of the coast line �" unique nature scenery that you can observe till the end of this tour! As the tour goes on the cliffs get higher and more spectacular. Bur still is possible to cross unspoiled beaches, nestling between rocks.

This fantastic hike ends in Algarve border in the incredible beautiful beach and small village of Odeceixe! From here it’s starts another amazing hiking tour �" the amazing Wild Algarve Hike till Sagres, on the cliffs of Cape S. Vicente �" the south‐westernmost
point of Continental Europe!

Typical Day

Programme

Day 1: Arrival �" Welcome at Lisbon airport. 2H00 drive to Porto Covo, briefing about the tour followed by dinner. Lodging in a 3* hotel in the beautiful and typical village of Porto Covo standing by the sea.

Day 2: The typical houses in Alentejo coast �" 19km (12mi), level 4 ( Beach). Breakfast. We leave the houses above the sea and we start hiking. Let us point out Pessegueiro Islet with a small fortress which was built in the 17th century to protect the fishermen in Porto Covo from the pirates. Picnic on the way. Dinner with the group. Lodging in a small town classified as a Touristic Paradise, near the beach in a Bed & Breakfast unit.

Day 3: Dunes �" 15km (9mi), level 3. Breakfast. After crossing the river by boat you walk all day along the coast with colorful Dunes and Mediterranean vegetation. You will also see crops and herds. Picnic on the way. Dinner with the group. Lodging in a Bed & Breakfast unit.

Day 4: Cape Sardão and the Storks - 20km (13mi), level 4. Breakfast. Trails and paths among coloured dunes along the coast. Near the Cape with its Lighthouse we see stork’s nests that are suspended in pointed rocks, inaccessible cliffs and rocks in the ocean! Picnic on the way. Dinner with the group. Lodging in a Bed & Breakfast unit with a swimming-pool.

Day 5: Amália Beach �" 14km (9mi), level 3. Breakfast. The cliffs get more and more beautiful and majestic! At the end of the day we get to Amália’s beach, the place where the famous Fado singer had her hiding place. Picnic on the way. Dinner with the group. Lodging in a Bed & Breakfast unit near Amália’s beach.

Day 6: Odeceixe Beach �" 13km (8mi), level 3. Breakfast. Hiking on spectacular cliffs and crossing amazing Odeceixe Beach. The view is amazing �" the beach, the small houses, the winding river, the green vegetation. Visit Odeceixe Village. Picnic on the way. Dinner with the group. Lodging in a Bed & Breakfast unit with a swimming-pool.

Day 7: Departure �" After breakfast transfer to Lisbon airport. 3H00 drive to airport.
