Manaus, Brazil Eco Tours

Typical Day
DAY 1: TREE CLIMBING - OVERNIGHT AT THE TREE TOP
Early in the morning we await you at the pier of the Tropical Manaus Hotel. The jungle adventure begins! We ride by boat along the Negro River until we arrive at the Ariau Amazon Towers Hotel where a warm welcome receives you. Be ready for exciting tree climbing! We enjoy a guided walk along wooden catwalks that meander through the Amazon rainforest's thick canopy. Our tree climbing adventure begins with a Samauma Tree (Ceiba pentandra) that is specially chosen for your experience, ranging from 100 feet tall. You’ll receive thorough instruction in tree climbing technique and your guide will be alongside as you ascend into the canopy. Once high in the tree, there will be a canvas hammock waiting for you to rest, relax and observe the Negro River, so you can enjoy the landscape while you savour seasonal tropical fruit and a snack... ahh TreeTime! After all that excitement we’re ready for lunch. Later on we’ll walk back to the tree and climb again to sleep in the treetops under the stars.

Day 2: SWIM WITH PINK DOLPHINS
Prepare for your next eco adventure, as an optional activity! We take a short 15min ride on a motorized canoe from the deck of Ariau Amazon Towers Hotel through the Parana do Ariau water channel to a wooden floating deck where our lovely friends are waiting for us to swim. To start our interaction with the river pink dolphins we wear life vests and are continuously monitored by a trained professional experienced in dolphin interaction. After lunch we'll ride back in a boat to the pier of the Tropical Manaus Hotel.
Other Information
Weather conditions in the Rainforest varies a few around the year, in general be ready for rain and hot days. Here you’ll find a suggested packing list for your trip in order to bring the appropriate stuff. Comfortable clothing and hiking shoes is the rule.
This list contains almost all items that could be useful: comfortable lightweight breathable clothing, raincoat, swimsuit, hiking footwear, water bottle, camera and insect repellent.
How physically challenging is it to climb?
It depends on each person. For some people it can be challenging but for others less so. It all has to do with the physical condition and health of each person. From this point, Tropical Tree Climbing's team studies the best way to give each customer the best experience and help them enjoy the canopy as much as possible. There are cases where a client is not able to do any hard physical exertion; Tree Climbing Assisted is available to them with special techniques and equipment.

Vanessa Marino (View My Profile)Tropical Tree Climbing (TTC) was conceived when Leonide Principe took his first tree climbing lessons in 1997 while on scientific expeditions focused on photographing Amazonian epiphytes for the "Aerial Plants of the Amazon" project, which was supported and sponsored by the Department of Culture of the Government of the Amazon State of Brazil. From that moment, Leo knew he wanted to do something with the knowledge acquired from those early experiences. In 1998, Leo and his wife, Vanessa, bought 270 hectares of virgin rainforest in northern Brazil and began to build Tropical Tree Climbing.
The dream of bringing recreational tree climbing and an official tree climbing training school to the Amazon in Brazil, was born in 2006. In 2007 they partnered with Tim Kovar, master instructor for Tree CIimbers International and founder of Tree Climbing Northwest, to begin their recreational tree climbing education. Since then, Tropical Tree Climbing has been operating in the Amazon region, taking our customers closer to nature, an experience that allows them to sense a deep connection with the Amazon rainforest.
The TTC company is officially registered on the Ministry Tourism Department, of Amazon's government with company registration number 03.036473.10.0001-8 (issued by Ministry of Tourism Industry)
