Newly renovated, the Civic Guest House is a friendly charming hostel in the heart of Townsville offering clean, safe and cosy accommodation for the budget conscious traveller. All you will have to pay for is your room - no hidden fees or surcharges. We offer free Wi-Fi and free transport to/from the Ferry and Greyhound bus terminal.

Our aim is to provide our guests with a comfortable and quiet place to stay in a relaxed and friendly environment. Conveniently located in a quiet street in Townsville's CBD, the Civic Guest House Backpackers Hostel gives you a broad choice of room options ranging from shared dorms to private double rooms with ensuite.

Directions

The Civic Guest House is centrally located in downtown Townsville, a short 5 minute stroll to Flinders Mall and a 15 minute walk to the Strand (beach) and Palmer Street (restaurant precinct). The famous 'Goat Track' to Castle Hill is only a few blocks away.

We offer free pick-up (at 2pm and 7pm) and drop-off (at 9:45am and 11am) to/from the Greyhound bus terminal and the ferry terminal to Magnetic Island. Please note that pick-ups and drop-offs need to be booked 24 hours prior arrival/departure.

Outside of these hours you can catch the SUNBUS REDBUS, which meets all Greyhound's buses and Magnetic Island Ferries and will drop you off one block away from the hostel for $1.70. The Redbus also gets to all main attractions including the Strand, the Rock Pool, Flinders and Palmer Streets, and picks up from the Premier Bus stop.

From the airport, your cheapest option is to catch the Abacus Shuttle Service for $10 per person or $18 for 2 people.

If you are arriving by car, follow the signs to downtown. Walker Street is one street back from the main street (Sturt Street).

If you are walking from the Greyhound terminal, walk towards town past the ReefHQ Aquarium and follow Flinders Street until you hit Stanley Street. Turn right into Stanley and then left into Walker Street.
