Located in the heart of northern Tasmanias lush rural countryside, Brickendon is one of Australias oldest farming properties, settled in 1824 by William Archer, the farm has been continuously owned and operated by his direct descendents, now in their 7th generation. With the assistance of assigned convict labour during the 1820 to 40s Brickendon was developed as a model English farm and guests are welcome to explore the historic farm village complex which provides a real colonial farming experience. Guests can also enjoy - wandering the beautiful heritage gardens with many 180 year old trees, extensive shrubberies and flowering beds, country walks to the natural lagoon with plenty of birdlife or along the banks of the Macquarie River where trout and platypus can often be seen and morning feeding of our friendly farm animals .Accommodation is in self contained recycled timber farm cottages which feature wood heaters and a combination of contemporary and antique furnishings, extensive rural views and are located near the Farm Village. All cottages have full cooking facilities, tea/coffee, private bathrooms, laundry facilites, lounge rooms with tv & dvd, linen, toiletries, hairdryers, electric and wood heating, electric blankets and continental breakfast provisions are included in the tariff. Cots are provided free of charge. All cottages are smoke free, internet facilities available at reception. Reception open 9.30 to 5 Tuesday to Sunday or follow after hours signs. Check in 2pm, check out 10am.
