The BaseCamp Ghana hostel in Accra is located in the Ablekuma central district, near many restaurants and shops. The house is also a five minute walk from the Kaneshie Market, where you can practise your bartering skills on a number of modern and traditional items.

BaseCamp Ghana is a large two story center with shared dormitory-style accommodation. There is a large common area on the main floor for guest use, complete with books and games. In each of the nine rooms there is a private washroom. Some of the rooms also have their own balconies, which are perfect for relaxing on and practicing your Twi. The rooftop patio is also a guest favourite as a place to take in the view of Accra and spend some downtime.

Wireless internet is available throughout the center, making it easy to connect and stay in touch with friends and family back home. The house is monitored by a security company through a number of close circuit televisions.
The BaseCamp Center in Ghana has a full time kitchen that can provide three meals per day. The Hostel menu consists of local dishes, and can be modified to make accommodations for any allergy or food restrictions(with advance notice). In addition to the delicious meals prepared and eaten at BaseCamp, you can also arrange to have a packed lunch provided, to take with you on that days excursion.

You can purchase a meal plan in any combination, from a single meal to a complete meal plan. You can make your meal plan arrangements in advance at the time you book your accommodation, or you can plan to wait until your arrival to join the meal plan.
The meal plan is posted weekly, so you will always know what is for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you are staying at the BaseCamp hostel and you did not select a meal plan, you can always choose to join in on any meal, provided you give the kitchen enough notice (four to six hours is requested).

With our mix of guests, local friends and staff, BaseCamp Accra has an atmosphere that is more like a homestay than a hostel. Guests are always welcome to join any of the activities or events hosted by BaseCamp, and we pride ourselves on our community based environment that is open and friendly

Directions

The easiest form of transportation to BaseCamp Ghana is by taking a taxi. From the airport the taxi ride is approximately a 40 minute drive when the traffic is heavy.

When you arrive at the airport, you will need to leave the airport and go to the taxi parking lot that is located directly across from the arrivals gate. Tell the taxi driver that you will be going to Kaneshi first light.

When you arrive at Kaneshi first light you will want to instruct the taxi driver to turn left towards Mataheko. As you are approaching Mataheko you will need to turn right at the first road. Drive down the road until you reach Grace and Mercy School then turn right onto the first road. Drive straight until you drive past Grace Chapel and then turn left. This road will lead you right to the BaseCamp Center. When you reach a sign 'Kyekye's lodge' tell the taxi to stop as you have safely arrived to the BaseCamp hostel.
