Generally, we do our dogsled rides at Lake Byllesby RP, which is a Dakota County park just north of Cannon Falls (still in the Twin Cities metro area). Your experience starts by meeting the dogs at the dogsledding trailhead, then you can be as involved in the ride as you would like from helping to harness and hook up the dogs, to even possibly driving the sled for part of the ride. Once we get back to the trail head you are certainly welcome to stay and help take care of the dogs and get some great photos. For smaller groups we will use the larger loop which is about 20-25 min ride but you should plan on being at the park for at least an hour and it usually is a bit longer than that. The cost is $350 for the first sled and then $100/ sled after that, so the total cost will depend on the size of your group but for example a young family (2 adults and 2 small children) or 2-3 adults would fit in two sleds for a total cost of $450.
For larger groups we will use the shorter loop which is a 5-10 min ride. We will run two sleds in & out of the trailhead, switching riders and drivers. This is a great outing, the short rides keep everyone engaged in the day without getting too cold and there is a fire ring and picnic tables to roast marshmallows or just enjoy the fire. The cost again will depend on the size of the group but will generally range from $650-$950.
