Cultivating the beauty of each detail and a true sense of hospitality, this is a guest house unlike any other. Ideally located on a quaint street across from Marseilles' Saint Charles train station, and just a short walk from the Old Port, this comfortable bed and breakfast blends the quality services of a hotel with the authentic charm of a maison d'hôtes and a vibrant international ambiance.
Along with the warm, attentive welcome and stylish decor, we have five luminous rooms with retro 20th-century furnishings, lovingly unearthed by your host, an aficionado of the second-hand shops and village sales of Provence.
Each room has its own entrance and a private bathroom and toilet, along with a flat-screen television, Wi-Fi and reversible air conditioning. Breakfast is served in a pleasant communal dining area and can be eaten quickly at the counter or while seated at beautiful Parisian bistro tables.
We have a central and practical location in the heart of downtown Marseille, on a quiet street which is conveniently located and easy to reach. We're just two minutes by foot from the Saint Charles train station (TGV, local trains) and the bus station (Aix-en-Provence; airport shuttles), four minutes by foot to the tramway, the metro, and the famous boulevard La Canebière, and ten minutes by foot to the Old Port and the city's historic district.
Please note that our rates do not include a tourist tax of €0.40 per person per night, due on arrival.
Directions
Casa Ortega is located within three minutes' walking distance from the central train and bus station Saint-Charles.
There's two ways to get to our B&B:
From the end of the big famous stone stairs:
Turn right and go about 10 meters and then turn right once again and go up the street for about 50 meters. On your left-hand side you'll see a square which is on the reverse side of the street, it is the Place Bernard Dubois. The street rue des Petites Maries goes down on the left side of the café tobacco shop (the Balto) which is in the centre of this square. You will find Casa Ortega five meters down, on the left-hand side on at 46 rue des Petites Maries.
From the station St Charles at the end of the platform:
Take the escalators down one level and go to the exit for Boulevard Maurice Bourdet. At the pharmacy and the post office, leave the taxi on your left and turn to your left on Boulevard Maurice Bourdet. Walk for 50 metres. On your right-hand side you'll see Place Bernard Dubois square. The street rue des Petites Maries goes down on the left side of the tobacco shop (the Balto) which is in the centre of this square. You'll find Casa Ortega five meters down on the left at 46 rue des Petites Maries.
By car :
Via freeway A7: exit station Saint-Charles; at the top of the Boulevard Charles Nedelec when the station is right in front of you, turn to one's right until you reach the boulevard Maurice Bourdet and descend about 70 meters. On your right-hand side you'll see a plaza, the Place Bernard Dubois. Our street, rue des Petites Maries, goes down on the left side of the tobacco shop (the Balto) which is in the centre of this plaza. You'll find Casa Ortega five meters down on the left at 46 rue des Petites Maries.
Via freeway A55: follow the direction Centre Ville - Vieux Port and station Saint-Charles.
By train or by bus:
Casa Ortega is situated about 50 metres from the station Saint-Charles or the bus terminal.
Navettes (shuttlebusses) departing from the airport: The terminal station of the shuttlebusses is the station Saint-Charles.
Duration of the journey is 25 minutes. Shuttles depart from 5:10 until 0:10 every 20 min until the last flight.
