Since 1854, end of Edo ara, Iwaso has been loved by not only Japanese celebrities but also many international celebrities such as royal families, presidents, prime ministers, Helen Keller etc . Iwaso is located near Itsukushima Shrine, a symbol of the Miyajima Island . The shrine was built over the bay and the grand Torii gate of the shrine appears floating in the water . Miyajima was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 .
Most of the part of Iwaso including the guest rooms have authentic traditional Japanese architectural styles which were built in the 1930's . Iwaso has been working very hard to preserve this historical building for a long time .
