The cottages are located on the hillside above the business site all on the eastern shores of the Volta river. We are between the Adomi bridge and the Akosombo dam which are both Ghanaian historic sites. The area is one of tranquility and absolute beauty. While not actually in the woods you are surrounded by fruit trees and colorful flowers. People bicycle by on their way to work, taxis and cars pass during the day but there is no traffic after 9pm usually. At night we hear the sounds of antelope calling in the woods on the hillside. This is an ideal location for the person who is looking for a quiet, meditative spot. Once people arrive they have a difficult time leaving because they feel so relaxed.
We have three local markets within an hour's ride, boat rides on the river, the cedi bead factory in Odumase and we are close to the attractions of the Hohoe district which include waterfalls, the tallest mountain in Ghana and a monkey sanctuary.

The beauty of our structures is they are built in the ancient African tradition with natural clay modeled right from the land. This eco -friendly way to build cuts down on the amount of cement used on site; cement is only used to plaster the walls to make the structure more durable in the rains. Our facility functions on solar energy and rain water catchment; each room is equipped with a water tank for personal use - showering and toileting. The cottages are kept cool naturally due to the mud construction and the hillside breeze is divine.

Amenitieskeyboard_double_arrow_up
The business site is home to our vegetarian cafe where you can sit and read, play darts or shoot pool. The verandah is also a great place to do yoga or dance. Within the building we have a library which you are welcome to enjoy at your leisure. We do have a computer room with some limited access to internet because we do not have phone lines on our road. We will accommodate your needs as best we can.
We will serve meals if ordered in advance but our snacks are delicious and so are our drinks. We also serve limited types of alcohol like beer, akpeteshie (a local schnapps made from palm wine) and fruit liquers. We try to keep our foods and drinks as healthy as possible.

Each structure has it's own patio where you can sit and watch the birds or the sunset. The cottages are double occupancy with an option for a 'sofa bed' for children. Two of the cottages can be used for group sleeping and people can also sleep on the patio if they so desire. Private toilet and showers are in each room and the rooms have windows which look out toward the river. The rooms are decorated with tie dye bedding and curtains, each room in a different color; so we have the red, the purple, the blue, the green and the brown rooms. We know you will be comfortable in this location and you will be glad you came.

Policies & Restrictionskeyboard_double_arrow_up
We have nothing against animals and we have pets of our own but they live outside. We would ask that if you travel with animals they also sleep outside the room on the patio.
We ask that you refrain from smoking while at our site.
Children of all ages are welcome and will probably love the area.
The group cottages are restricted to either male or female unless a group rents the entire cottage.

ADOMI BRIDGE CLOSES!
It's official. The Adomi bridge closed at 6am on the 10th of March. It has been quite an adventure figuring out which ways are the best to move around to go to market, Atimpoku or Accra. Small canoes have popped up all over taking people from Atimpoku or from the Afrikiko over to Akwamufie.
We are located about 65 miles northeast of Accra and 55 mile north of Tema. Transport is easy in Ghana as we have many taxis and trotros that go almost everywhere.
The latest and greatest ways to reach us and this side of the river are:
BY CAR: From Accra and most other areas follow all directions to Akosombo. Go to the Senchi ferry (About 20 minutes drive north of Kpong) and join the cue to ride the ferry. The fee is 10GHC. You will get off the ferry and follow the road straight or if it branches, go left.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
1. From Tudu station take an Akosombo trotro (mini van) and get off just after the Atimpoku roundabout (about a 2 hour journey). Make sure you ask the 'mate' to let you down at the bridge crossing. Go down to the river and join the cue to get onto one of the small boats crossing the river. The fee is 1GHC. On the other side of the river are taxis going toward Akwamufie. Take one of these to Black Star Lions site on the right hand side, approximately 2.5 kilometers from the bridge.
2. From Madina station take a Kpong trotro all the way to Kpong. Get onto an Akosombo trotro and follow the above directions.
3. Get on any Akosombo trotro and get off at the Afrikiko junction. Follow the road down toward the river and branch left. Join any one of the canoes going across the river to Akwamufie. Once there, walk up the road to the main road and then left to the taxi stand. Ask anyone you meet where the taxis are. Join a taxi and travel toward the bridge, getting off at Black Star Lions on the left. Most of the taxi drivers know us. The canoe and taxi are each asking 1GHC for transport.
Taxis can be shared or private and can be hired by the hour or by the day. They pass our site frequently coming and going between Akwamufie and Atimpoku. Trotros to Atimpoku can be found at stations in Accra and Tema; you board the Akosombo trotro and tell them you want to get off at Atimpoku. Getting around is part of the adventure so do not shy away from it.
If you get lost, just phone!
