At last a hostel on the beach in Playa del Carmen! Walk barefoot all day on the soft white sand. Sleep with the sound of the waves. Situated in a mayan fishing community, Playa Beach Hostel offers you peace and tranquility surrounded by nature.
XCALACOCO(pronounced shkalacoco), is in the northern part of Playa del carmen but still part of the city. Downtown is close (6 kms, 2 hour walk on the beach), but far enough to feel you\'re in a tropical paradise. The shared rooms are fairly new and all have a beautiful view. They each contain two single beds, one double bed, a private bathroom with a sink and shower in each room. We have male, female and mixed shared rooms. We also have an air conditioned room in the main house with 4 single beds
You can camp out on the soft sand or sling tour hammock between two palmtrees. You can cook your meal, chat with new friends or just relax in a hammock. Ther is a market just 2 kms from the hostel with a laundry and internet.
Our neighbor, Coco\'s Cabañas, has an international menu and a brick pizza oven. We also sell pastries breads and fresh juices. For a 10% service fee, we buy all your necessities in town. We have internet service available. For a small fee we offer car service to downtown or the highway. We have laundry service or you can do it yourself by hand at the hostel. Activities closeby include swimming, fishing, snorkeling, ocean diving, cave diving, walking to hidden mayan ruins in the jungle (15 minutes walk by the beach and it\'s free).

HOW TO GET THERE: To get to Playa Beach Hostel from downtown Playa del Carmen, walk to the bus stop behind WalMart (avenida 25 and calle 8). Wait for the bus with GUADALUPANA//PETEN//COCA written on the window(60 cents US, half hour). Get off at the COCA. There is road that goes to the beach. Take a taxi and negociate (3 or 4 US). Some private buses that go to the hotels on the beach will pick you up for a dollar or two. you an also walk 2.5 kms. Ask for Restaurant Los Pinos, our place is the entrance next door with the pool. You can also take a taxi from Playa del Carmen for about 10 US. (negociate) We'll be waiting for you in our tropical beach paradise...
