How to Get Here by Car:

• Take autobahn A8 Munich-Salzburg
• Exit Traunstein/Siegsdorf/Ruhpolding (exit nr. 112)
• in the roundabout, to the right towards Ruhpolding: 8 km (as signposted)
• drive through the new “Schlosstunnel” and turn left in the roundabout, onto Waldbahnstrasse
• after about 300 m, the road turns left. Take the first left after this curve onto Niederfeldstrasse
• Am Sonneneck are the third and fourth houses at your right; there is a large parking area in front of the houses where you can park your car.

How to Get Here by Plane:

Munich airport is 140 km, Salzburg airport 40 km from Ruhpolding. From there, you can take a taxi or train (to Traunstein – Ruhpolding). We will gladly organize a taxi for you!

About Ruhpolding:

Interesting landscape with meadows of flowers and richly forested mountains, oftentimes reminiscent of the stage setting for a Operette musical drama, rustic-homely atmosphere, “luftbemalte” (decorated) houses, wooden balconies adorned with geraniums, baroque parish church, quaint pubs – all parts of what this Upper Bavarian town on the German Alpine Road has to offer.

The valley of Ruhpolding encompasses an area of 149 sq.km., making the community one of the largest of Bavaria in terms of area covered. Ruhpolding is richly blessed, but especially marked by the traditions which have been maintained.

The village of 6800 inhabitants offers its guests 6400 beds, from private quarters to luxury hotels, from nice farmsteads to vacation apartments – whatever a vacationer may desire.

Friends of the water will find theirs in the wave pool spa, the first of its kind in the Alps, and the wide open-air pools of different kinds. Farmer’s painting courses, the folklore museum in the hunting lodge and the museum of peasant sacred art with the largest parameter collection in Europe, the museum of woodworkers in the parish courtyard with extended open-air area, concerts in the spa gardens, dance in quaint cellars and to modern beats in hot discos, Alm-music and Alm-hut evenings on the Raffneralm and in the Unternberghof as well as plays staged by the Ruhpolding Farmer’s Theater add to the excitement.

The youngest guests are well cared for in the kindergarten, with children’s playgrounds, a fairy tale-park and affordable children’s dishes in most restaurants and pubs. For the developed taste of adults, the restaurants in town also offer culinary treats from both international and Bavarian cuisines.

The Altes Schulhaus (former school) of Ruhpolding, which was rebuilt into a “Haus des Gastes” (guest’s house), is a particular attraction. This new meeting place for vacationers contains reading rooms, TV rooms and lecture rooms, all available to the spa guest from 9 a.m.- 10 p.m., daily.

Chiemsee

The 240 hectare big Herreninsel island with its king’s castle, modeled after Versailles, is one of the best known Bavarian sights. It is easily reached by boat and also offers park landscape, water games, museum, the two galleries in the Augustine monastery and others.

The Königssee with a depth of 190 m is not far from Ruhpolding, surrounded by high mountains such as the Watzmann. By boat, you can get to the much-visited pilgrimage church St. Bartholomew; at the half-way point, you can hear the famous multiple “Echo of the Königssee.” Distance: 45 km.

Burghausen

Medieval city with the longest castle in all of Europe – an amazing 1043 m of turrets and walls spreading along the mountain ridge, offering a great view of the old town. Distance: 50 km.

Fun and Wellness in Vita Alpina

The Vita Alpina spa in Ruhpolding is a paradise for everybody looking for bathing fun and sauna pleasure.

The ‘marine waves’ have been its trademark from the opening of this, Germany’s first, wave pool, but it’s become much better yet after its reconstruction.

Vita Alpina combines the fun and healthy elements to a fantastic free time attraction for all lovers of the wet element.

Besides the wave, there is now also the “primal pool,” an outdoor pool with a size of 175 sq.m., filled with 33C hot water. The various water jets, showers and falls are a true pleasure for body and soul.

For the younger ‘wave riders’, there are different water playgrounds and the giant water slide with fascinating water and light effects.

The new sauna landscape of the Vita Alpina is an oasis of wellness without compare, offering steam and Finnish sauna, Aroma and Brechel bath (rustic tiled oven sauna), recovery in the samarium as well as warm benches and a hay tiled oven.

For chill-out in between, there are rest and meditation rooms, the mountain views from which let everyone’s thought just get dreamy, or there are refreshing drinks at the bar.
