The house itself is beautifully situated on the harbour in Newport and is a perfect base for a variety of river, sea and land activities. Fishing boats leave from the quay in front of the house and are available to charter for deep sea fishing in Clew Bay. Fresh water salmon fishing is also available along the Black Oak river. If your inclinations are for more solid ground, the house itself is on the path of a popular Newport loop walk. To drive from Castlebar, take the R311 from Castlebar to Newport into Newport town. Cross the junction and follow the road along the river. Anchor house is the third house on the right and clearly sign posted.
