Set at 800 metres on a hillside overlooking the village of Afensou, which is blessed by a lovely spring and views, Les Terrasses de l'Atlas offer an ideal base in a simple, clean guest house run by a very competent trekking guide.
Accommodation: 5 characterful rooms on different levels, sleeping 2, 3 or 4 persons; all are en suite.
Some have fireplaces and one has a private terrace. One which has a fireplace and 2 bathrooms - one normal and one open air and with a view! All have air conditioning and heaters.
Location: Set on a terraced hillside above the village of Afensou just 1 hour north of Taroudant. The last few kms of the journey is a track along which you'll be driven by 4x4 – or in good weather possible by car or even on foot. There are 2 access routes: one may not be feasible in bad weather.
Services and other points to note: Flexible programme of activities to choose from includes gentle or strenuous walking, mule riding, exploration by 4x4, mountain biking or cookery lessons. A genuine experience of Berber culture including an in-house hammam. Longer treks with 4x4 support are also offered.
Meals: 3 meals a day are included: menus are imaginative.
Staff: Luc, Hafida, his Berber wife, and staff will give you a warm welcome. Luc speaks excellent English and French. Kamal speaks excellent English.

From Taroudant, take the road starting from Bab El Khmis and passing by the Sunday souk, going north to a crossroad by the village of Tamaloukte (15 km from Taroudant).
Best is to turn right and then a few hundreds meters further turn left to reach a dam in progress.
In the working area, always choose to go down and to remain on the left. You have to pass a river (oued), sometimes dry sometimes easy to cross.
There are now approximately 10 km track, but feasible with an ordinary car (except after and during rain). Then tarmac road again till Afensou (small sign : Afensou auberge riad. The house is opposite to the bridge of Afensou and can be easily seen from the road.
At Tamaloukte crossroad, you can continue straight right (50 km instead of 35 km) : this is a tarmac road all the way along. Before the last village of Imoulas, you have to spot the road going down on the right to the village of Assaka, and continue till Afensou.
We can handle the transportation with one of our 4x4 or a local taxi from Taroudant or Agadir, even Marrakech.
