Tenjin Lodge, in the mountains of Minakami, is situated inside the Joetsu Highland National Park only 170km from Tokyo and a few hundred meters from the Tanigawa-dake mountain ropeway and Tenjin-daira ski resort.
Tenjin Lodge offers Western and Japanese style private rooms (en suite), family rooms (en suite) and group rooms.
Our kitchen serves up great food to suit all budgets and at our restaurant and bar you can access free WiFi. Back country ski and snowboarding tours, snowshoe and hiking tours are available in house while our relationships with local adventure companies allow us to offer discounted rafting or canyoning tours.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are also more than happy to point you toward the right hiking trail, of which there are dozens to choose from. The lodge is adjacent to a number of secluded swimming holes and we can set you up with a BBQ in the Summer as you enjoy the river.
Our unique position, deep in the Joetsu National Park and only a short walk to Tanigawa-dake Ropeway makes Tenjin Lodge, Minakami's gateway to the back country.
Getting To Tenjin Lodge
By Bullet Train - Take the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Jomokogen Station. The train takes 70 minutes after which you take the Kan-Etsu bus to Minakami station where we can pick you up.
By Bullet Train - Take the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Echigo Yuzawa Station and then board the JR Joetsu train for Doai Station. We are 5 minutes walk from Doai Station.
By Car - Take the Kan-Etsu expressway from Tokyo and exit at the Minakami interchange. Turn left at the first lights, left at the next set of lights onto route 291 and then drive straight which will take you right to Tanigawadake Mountain. We are the last building on the left before you hit the ropeway and just after Doai train station.
