Sailboat
Maldives have a warm tropical climate. Determined by two monsoons. Those are North East monsoon and South West monsoon.
The northeast monsoon, from Dec to April, is the dry season with a very little wind and is the best time for Diving, you can expect to see some pelagics like Grey reef sharks, Eagle rays, Manta rays, white tip sharks, big tuna, and schooling of barracudas.
Whale sharks and Manta rays are common to see in this period. Especially in Ari atoll.
Inside the atolls you often find pinnacles (thila) or under water reefs rising up almost to the surface.
These reefs are good for diving with both currents, incoming and outgoing currents.
Southwest monsoon from May to October brings some rain and wind. But diving is very exciting in some atolls like Baa atoll, Ari atoll etc. Visibility can be slightly reduced because of abundant of plankton in the water. Good time for Whale shark and Manta Rays.
Maldives is home to some of the most diverse marine fauna and flora in the world.
Thousands of reefs, over hundred species of corals, and two hundred more species of other marine life.
There are thousands of dive sites, each dive site has its unique characteristics in form, fauna and flora.
Resorts concentrate on dive sites within one or two hour radius, while liveaboards cover more ocean and therefore a great variety.
A liveaboards (safari) diving is the best way to explore these beautiful Atolls.
On MV Carina, we offer facilities for night diving too.
MV Carina is fully air conditioned with attached Toilets. Restaurant and Bar with Alcoholic drinks.
We offer three dives per day, one night diving during the week and one BBQ under the stars on an uninhabited island.
For diving we use separate Diving Dhoni (boat), especially built for comfort and efficiency.
All the equipment, tanks and compressors were installed on the Dhoni, in order to avoid noise for the guests on Carina.
Diving dhoni accompanies always with the Carina, takes divers to the different dive sites.
Snorkeling and diving with huge whale sharks and Manta rays are very common on our trips.
Maldives is the one of the best dive destination in the world.
We offer dive safari for individual bookings and for full charters. Spaces and dates are limited. So advance booking is recommended.
