Active Adventurekeyboard_double_arrow_up
Up The Creek Xpeditions offers Adventures ranging from Mild-to-Wild offering paddlers of all skill-levels an outdoor activity that's just right for them. Guests meet our guides at the put-in where the boats and gear are already lined up and waiting. After fitting pfd's and handing out paddles, guests receive a safety briefing and some basic paddling instruction before climbing into the kayaks for an easy paddle up a calm, tree-lined creek, a day at the zoo, or an exciting trip into some big water for a visit to Cumberland Island National Seashore. With over 20-paddling locations, Up The Creek Xpeditions can design a custom adventure for you and your group.

Typical Daykeyboard_double_arrow_up
A typical day for us is sunny and fun! We meet our guests at the put-in spot for their paddling adventure and make sure everyone is fueled-up and ready to take on the day. After outfitting and instruction, we slide the boats into the water and head out to enjoy the scenery, history and wildlife this area has to offer. Cruising through the salt marsh, visitors are often treated to the sight of large coastal birds wading in the shallows in search of a meal -- or, in the case of the Osprey, circling high above the river before diving into the water and emerging with a fish clutched in its talons. Dolphins are a common sight, as are turtles and alligators in fresher water. There is no limit to the interesting things you might see on a paddling adventure!

Age range, type of groupkeyboard_double_arrow_up
Up The Creek's guided kayak and War Canoe tours are perfect for paddlers and adventurers of all ages. Children as young as 2-years-old have joined their parents on our adventures; but, if you plan on taking very small children out on the water, it's advisable to get them their own personal pfd rather than hoping an outfitter has the right size for your child. Kids of all ages love going out on the water in boats; and we do all we can to make each of our trips fun for everyone. Our oldest paddler so far was 92-years-old in kayaks and 87-years-old in the War Canoe! We do many outings for both school groups and seniors groups.

Sleeping and mealskeyboard_double_arrow_up
On our Half-day trips, we provide water and snacks for guests. On Full-day Adventures, guests are encouraged to bring sandwiches, etc, but may arrange for lunch to be provided for an additional charge. On Full-day outings, we typically bring water and snacks -- along with chips and fruit to go along with everyone's lunch. We encourage guests to bring along anything they'd like to be sure they have with them on the trip or at the destination. Many of our trips are timed to take advantage of lunch and dinner offerings from local restaurants.

Restrictionskeyboard_double_arrow_up
We have no restrictions on our trips; but if you bring a pet or small child, you will be responsible for their safety -- including pfd's (even for the dog). Keep in mind that every body of water in this area has the potential to be home to an Alligator -- and Alligators love to eat dogs. Though people often take pets paddling with them, be advised that you could be asking for an encounter with an Alligator. If you must smoke, we ask that you paddle away from (and downwind of) any other guests so they're not bothered by the smoke. Because of the nature of a canoe trip and the proximity to other guests, no pets or smoking will be allowed on War Canoe trips.

Other Informationkeyboard_double_arrow_up
If you'd rather not take a guided tour, we offer kayak rentals to experienced paddlers. The water around this area is tidal and can have dangerous currents. We are also subject to rapidly-changing coastal weather conditions, so it is not advised that individuals without coastal kayaking experience attempt to rent kayaks for this area.
