Guided War Canoe Adventures for Groups
Big Canoe Fun offers guided War Canoe tours for groups of up to 18-people. Enjoy a fun and exciting on-water adventure with family, friends or co-workers while exploring the history and natural beauty of Florida's First Coast in 25-foot War Canoes.
Starting at USD $ 55
Big Canoe Fun offers Adventures ranging from Mild-to-Wild offering paddlers of all skill-levels an outdoor activity that's just right for them. Guests meet our guides at the put-in where the canoes and gear are ready and waiting. After fitting pfd's and handing out paddles, guests receive a safety briefing and some basic paddling instruction before climbing into the War Canoes for an easy paddle up a calm, tree-lined creek, a day at the zoo, or an exciting trip into some big water for a visit to Cumberland Island National Seashore. With over 20-paddling locations, Big Canoe Fun can design a custom adventure for you and your group.
A typical day for us is sunny and fun! We meet our guests at the put-in spot for their paddling adventure and make sure everyone is fueled-up and ready to take on the day. After outfitting and instruction, we climb into the Big Canoes and head out to enjoy the scenery, history and wildlife this area has to offer. Cruising through the salt marsh, visitors are often treated to the sight of large coastal birds wading in the shallows in search of a meal -- or, in the case of the Osprey, circling high above the river before diving into the water and emerging with a fish clutched in its talons. Dolphins are a common sight, as are turtles and alligators in fresher water. There is no limit to the interesting things you might see on a paddling adventure!
Age range, type of group
Big Canoe Fun's guided War canoe tours
are perfect for paddlers and adventurers of all ages. Children as young as 2-years-old have joined their parents on our adventures; but, if you plan on taking very small children out on the water, it's advisable to get them their own personal pfd rather than hoping an outfitter has the right size for your child. Kids of all ages love going out on the water in boats; and we do all we can to make each of our trips fun for everyone. Our oldest paddler so far was 92-years-old in kayaks and 87-years-old in the War Canoe! We do many outings for both school groups and seniors groups.
Sleeping and meals
On our Half-day trips, we provide water and snacks for guests. On Full-day Adventures, guests are encouraged to bring sandwiches, etc, but may arrange for lunch to be provided for an additional charge. On Full-day outings, we typically bring water and snacks -- along with chips and fruit to go along with everyone's lunch. We encourage guests to bring along anything they'd like to be sure they have with them on the trip or at the destination. Many of our trips are timed to take advantage of lunch and dinner offerings from local restaurants.
Because of the nature of a canoe trip and the proximity to other guests, no pets or smoking will be allowed on War canoe trips
. Many of the National Parks and Wildlife Refuges in this region do not allow dogs or pets of any kind for many reasons -- not the least of which is your safety and the safety of your pet. Keep in mind that every body of water in this area has the potential to be home to an Alligator -- and Alligators love to eat dogs. Though people often take pets paddling with them, be advised that you could be asking for an encounter with an Alligator.
Rates & Availability
Half-Day Tours: $55/person
Full-Day Adventures: $100/person (without lunch)
Certain trips fall in between our Half-day and Full-day pricing. Advance reservations required. Reservations may be held with any major credit card.
All of our trips are "Group" trips; thus, our prices are our group rates and there isn't a lot of room for discounts. There are many factors that determine our rates -- which are the lowest in the area for the quality and professional services we provide -- but we do try to work with large groups booking multiple outings to create discounts where we can.Get More Information or Make Your Reservation »
