About this Safari
Get an Extraordinary privilege of traveling on safari in Tanzania during the Great Migration period where wildebeest, zebra and other spectacular wildlife move from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania into the Masai Mara in southern Kenya. Without a doubt, this is the most incredible travel experience you will ever have - and at the end of the trip, you can say what a million is!

Places to Visit
Included in our itinerary will be visits to the best wildlife National Parks of Northern Tanzania which contain an abundance of wildlife seen nowhere else on Earth - Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the vast Serengeti, Maasai Village Visit and Lake Manyara National Park.

Special Interests
The major aim of this safari is to witness the annual wildebeest migration in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet.  Sometimes referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth', the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 1.5 million wildebeest throughout the Serengeti and Maasai Mara ecosystems.  400,000 zebra and 200,000 gazelles accompany them along the way, making a total of over 2 million migrating animals!

Although the migratory pattern and timing of the animals can never be guaranteed, a highlight of this trip will be five nights camping in the Serengeti in nice, comfortable tented campsites so we can be in the vicinity of the migratory animals, better able to locate them as they make their crossing of the Mara River

A general guide to the Wildebeest migration based on the movement of the
mega herd over the last ten years.

From as early as December the Migration starts to move into the Ndutu region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The short grass plains here are rich in nutritious grasses, providing the herds with the best conditions to raise their newborn. Mid-February is calving season when approximately 8,000 wildebeest are born every day for a period of approximately 3 weeks.
From April to May, the herds migrate North with a split occurring when some wildebeest head directly up across the plains of the central Serengeti and the mega herd starts to push out to the Serengeti's Western Corridor. The central splinter herds then continue North to the Mara with the very first herds crossing the Mara River in late June to early July. The mega herd meanwhile is concentrated by the Grumeti River at the end of May/beginning of June. The Mara river, however, is where the impressive crossings happen.
As early as the 1st July the very first crossings of the Mara River begin, with the front runners of the mega herd pushing through. It is here where we hope to be.

DAY 1: Arusha - Tarangire National Park - Country Lodge
Morning safari briefing and then drive through Arusha town and towards Tarangire National Park for a game drive.
Tarangire National Park is famous for its population of elephants than any other park in northern Tanzania. It is also characterized by magnificent giant baobab trees -" the upside down trees which are believed to have been on earth hundreds of thousands of years. Moreover, the park also boasts to host a good number of different species of birds.
Late afternoon drive to Karatu and to Country Lodge for dinner and overnight (D)

DAY 2: Country Lodge to Serengeti Mbugani Camps
After an early breakfast, leave the lodge with packed lunch and drive Serengeti via the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. We will drive through central Serengeti and then to Northern Serengeti for an overnight at Mbugani Tented Lodge (B, L, D).
About the Serengeti National Park: The Serengeti National Park famously known as “the endless plains”,is a Tanzanian national park in the Serengeti ecosystem in the Mara and Simiyu regions. It is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white bearded (or brindled) wildebeest and 250,000 zebra and for its numerous Nile crocodiles. It is the best place to see the big cats than any other park in the northern Tanzania.

DAY 3: Game drives at the Mara River
On this day we depart early in the morning with our packed breakfast and lunch and drive further to the Mara River where by then we will find along the way groups of wildebeests moving towards the river or congregating along the river waiting for their time to cross. The wait to see them crossing is like waiting for a person to be born and everyone is alert if you hear at any point they cross! It is such an adventurous event to witness one. It is also the time for the monsters crocodiles waiting for their meals after almost a year long. We will spend our day there along the Mara River areas. Evening drive to central Serengeti for hot showers, dinner Overnight at Mbugani Tented Lodge (B, L, D).

DAY 5: Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater and then to Country Lodge
After an early breakfast we start driving to the Ngorongoro crater for game drive and lunch down the crater before we proceed to Country Lodge for hot shower before dinner. Overnight at Country Lodge (B,D,L)
About the Ngorongoro Crater: The crater was formed about 2.5 - 3.0 million years ago after what is believed to be the mountain close to the height of Mt. Kilimanjaro collapsed after an eruption forming a caldera. In the crater live more than 25,000 animals which the biggest population is wildebeests, Thomson's gazelles, zebras, buffalos, hartebeests and many more. The predators found in are the lions, hyenas and others. The crater is where one stands so many chances of spotting the Black Rhinos

Early morning check out at the lodge and depart to visit Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive and in the evening drive to Arusha for overnight at the Milimani Lodge

About Lake Manyara National Park
Of the 127 square miles (329 km2) of Lake Manyara National Park, the lake's alkaline waters (with a pH near 9.5 cover approximately 89 square miles (231 km2), though the area and pH fluctuate widely with the seasons, and dry spells expose large areas of mud flats. While most known for baboons, herbivores such as hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs and giraffes. Giant fig trees and mahogany seen in the groundwater forest, underground springs from crater highlands, hot springs, acacia woodlands. Leopards, although in abundance, are hard to get a glimpse of, just like the other elusive carnivores - the tree climbing lions - of this park.
