Sequim is located in the rain shadow (Blue Hole) of the Olympic Mountains and has more sun and less rain than anywhere else in western Washington - less than 15-inches of rain per year! See our website for more info.Sequim is a gateway to Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge (World's longest natural sand spit), and Victoria BC Canada. We are located in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley along the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Washington's beautiful North Olympic Peninsula. The Sequim-Dungeness Valley is known as the Lavender Capital of North America with many small farms to welcome you. Sequim offers convenient lodging for visitors of Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge, and Victoria BC, Canada.Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge and the surrounding landscapes are paradise for bird-watchers. The crest of the Dungeness Spit divides a protected inner harbor (Dungeness Bay) from the open waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. After crossing the strait from Canada, birds seek the spit for shelter and forage. Puffins, shorebirds, and waterfowl congregate along the spit while songbirds and raptors settle into the woods and onto the open fields of the refuge and recreation area above. More than 250 bird species have been recorded on the refuge, and more than 90 species have bred here.Sequim's location provides for wonderful day trips to Victoria BC (ferry ride) and the Pacific Ocean beaches. Sequim is located between Port Angeles to the west and Port Townsend to the east, both about a 30-minute drive. Port Townsend is a historic “Victorian” seaport, home of the Wooden Boat Festival, antique shopping, good restaurants, and Fort Worden which features a marine science center and restored historic military base. Port Angeles is a gateway to the Olympic National Park and terminal for the Victoria, BC Canada ferries.Sequim’s location is convenient for treks to Hurricane Ridge (Olympic National Park), beautiful Lake Cresent, beach walking on the Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge, downtown shops, golfing, the Olympic Game Farm (drive thru zoo), music festivals, wineries, lavender farms, fresh sea food restaurants, and the 7-Cedars Casino and Native Art Gallery.
