The Roanoke region provides ample Appalachian Mountain wilderness trails and camping opportunities any time of year! Spring and Summer allow for extended days to hike into and explore vast Appalachian countryside; we can build & support your exciting adventure into many fantastic vistas & scenery! Most hikes are close to Roanoke. A full variety of guided outdoor challenges are offered, just ask. Day-hikes range from 1/4mi to 8mi round trip. Our most popular hikes include Dragons Tooth, McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, Apple Orchard Falls plus many more! One day visiting Roanoke attractions is recommended.(inc.in a basic week tour).
Although guide rates vary, joining one of our basic week tours delivers the best value. Find the best hikes without rummaging for them and feel secure that decades of experience are behind you. Beyond basic tours, camping can be included and expanded. Create the adventure that best fits your abilities, enthusiasm, schedule and interests. If you prefer not to drive to the day's event, we can pick you up with our courtesy shuttle. Join author/guide Don Defreeze on the day's fantastic trek or adventure. Explore the best trails in the Roanoke, Virginia Appalachian region and get the most out of the wilderness experience and its unlimited vistas. Hikes end at 5pm, although may be extended if all agree. Rest in comfort at night, Excihiking
can book your Roanoke hotel room for you, or plan to camp-out. One day touring Roanoke is recommended, attend the many venues that Roanoke offers.
Age range, type of group
All can be accommodated if they finalize the booking process. Ask us about the difficulties of various hikes and we'll match your abilities. Children under 18 must be accompanied by parent(s) or guardian.
Sleeping and meals
From cheap to luxurious, rooms can be booked by Excihiking for a nominal fee; we can place you in the room you want. Meals are not included on daily excursions. We can also arrange setting up excursions on a day-to-day basis as an option to stay on budget. If camping is included, basic food stuffs may be provided along with a tent, but the lion share of meals during camping falls upon the customer. Whatever lodging arrangements you decide to make, you can almost always join us, just let us know!
All local laws need to be followed. Firearms are prohibited. Excihiking reserves the right to disband any contractual agreement if any Excihiking representative feels that a participant is a danger to anyone during the tour. Excihiking is not responsible if anyone misses the tour vehicle. Excihiking is not responsible for any inadvertant accident not directly attributable to Excihiking. Also, we are a guide service, not a rescue squad.
Day hike: Start at: $45.00/person week days, $55.00/person weekends, $10.00 additional person in your group.
A FREE day hike is usually offered every month so check it out!
Basic hiking/camping week tours start at $399.00/person (room not included)
Camping host fee is $115.00 per night, includes camp set-up/maintenance.
Remember, you may design a tour specifically tailored to your time-frame and interests. Excihiking will work out details and rates on an individual basis and fit an adventure within your budget.

Basic week tour itineraries become fixed on a first-come first-served basis (see availability chart for week tour specials). Once a deposit is accepted, others may join the basic tour, but they must agree to the then fixed intinerary. Therefore, its best to confirm your reservation request as soon as possible to secure specific choices.
A day to tour Roanoke is offered. In a week tour, one day may be designated to tour Roanoke, with courtesy transportation provided throughout the Roanoke valley with the opportunity to visit multiple sites that day. A chance to view upcoming events, such as at the Roanoke Berglund Center, Salem Taliaferro complex, etc., can be linked at Excihiking's website.
