Western Experience at Cedar Breaks Ranch Cedar Breaks Lodge a real out east experience Mar 18, 2013 03:33 pm Just the drive to Cedar Breaks from Pierre the capital of South Dakota is an interesting experience. Grasslands become low then high ridge lines with the final climb to the lodge overlooking the beautiful Cheyenne river with its tree studded bottom is unique. It is not hard to imagine giant herds of wild buffalo pursued by ancient Indian Tribes as You pass through miles of open grazing lands with minimal evidence of modern civilization. Cedar breaks is located in a historic old ridge top settlement area. A working cattle ranch is surrounded by actively farmed lands. The lodge breeds and raises trophy mule deer. The numerous draws associated with the high ridges are not only havens for wild life but supply the required moisture for the large volume of winter hardy cedar trees and from which the lodge gets its name. The western segment of the property drops down to the White River and another tree filled bottom. The Logdge management is well versed in local game and the various animals habits. I highly recommend the location and management. You will be most impressed with the wild game you will see and the overall experience you will have.
