About northeast Brazil and Baia da Traiçao:

Working for almost ten years in the tourism sector in Brazil, we have noticed that the tendency of those traveling in this wonderful country is to want to see as much as possible in one trip. To many traveler the common denominator is to run desperately from north to south, from east to west without a moment's respite and ending up going home more tired and stressed before departure. It is understandable that the curiosity and the desire to know take the upper hand but often we end up not to fully appreciate the beauty of this land. Our travel philosophy is based on getting to know the culture, history and natural beauties of Brazil and in the specific of the Northeast region that is among the most sought after by international tourism. In this we find the place where we live and work, Baia da Traiçao, a small fishing town overlooking the Atlantic, remained isolated and unknown to conventional tourism until a few years ago. Baia da Traiçao is located in the state of Paraiba, also an absolute novelty for international tourism, this state still contains all the peculiarities of the Northeast region, from the beautiful beaches of dunes, cliffs and coqueiros, to the culture of the natives, here represented by the tribe Potiguara, the last testimony of the Indigenous peoples remained today on the whole coast of Brazil, but there are also bucolic and historical aspects of the culture linked to the sugar cane, in the interior of the state develops the Engenhos circuit thanks to which it is possible to visit ancient cachaça distilleries and rapadura factories, raw sugar produced from sugar cane, all this and more is concentrated in a radius of 200 km. from BT. and can easily be visited in the day or with 2/3 days tours for the hinterland lampart. Our mission is to accompany the traveler in the discovery of the north-eastern world following the typical rhythm of local life, living the journey day by day in harmony with the surrounding nature.

About our work:

Two years ago, the government of Paraiba (northeast Brazil) launched a new tourism development program in the north coast of Paraiba where we live and work. The program, called "Trilhas dos Potiguaras", aims to develop sustainable and ecological tourism in the region with the primary objective of preserving the culture of the Indios Potiguara, the local flora and fauna. Our company, RaTravelBrasil, was one of the first people to join the program actively and today we are creating our own Green tourism network, aware that Sustainable tourism represents a real growth opportunity for local economies, from agriculture to crafts, improvement of territories and landscapes, recovery of ancient places and cultures, enhancement of ancient traditions. At the same time, the traveler will be able to reduce his impact on the environment as much as possible, making his passage positive and profitable and enriching the culture and local economies rediscovering an authentic way of traveling, capable of establishing a deep link with the places and with people along their own path.

The first definition of sustainable tourism is of the World Tourism Organization (OMT) in 1988:
"Tourism activities are sustainable when they are developed in such a way as to remain vital in a tourist area for an unlimited time, do not alter the environment (natural, social and artistic) and do not hinder or inhibit the development of other social and economic activities ".
