Finding a Gem in the Smokey Mountains
Jul 30, 2017
We try to vacation in Waynesville to escape the Florida heat and hike the Appalachian Trail. This was our first stay at Andon-Reid. Our hosts were outstanding. The house and grounds were in superior condition. We selected a small room with a porch looking out towards the mountains. We would retreat to the porch, after hiking all day, with a glass of wine purchased at our favorite wine store on Church Street - not only does the proprietor offer a wide selection of wines from several countries, he provides entertainment by local musicians. The bed & breakfast is well-appointed throughout, including a game room and exercise area in the basement. Breakfast was fine dining. Each guest was served individually, no cafeteria type line. I believe some of the recipes for the pancakes, french toast, and souffles were courtesy of highly regarded local chefs. The guests made enjoyable conversation at breakfast. Sometimes the discussions, ranging from education to child raising went well past breakfast. Oh, and lest I forget, the beds are not only comfortable but had the ability to rejuvenate ones tired muscles and stiff joints, so that in the morning you felt years younger. I am a hiker and a foodie. Waynesville offers it all. We ate several nights at The Chef's Table. If you want fresh, farm to table, prepared by an outstanding young chef, this is the place to eat. If you want to relax at a 5 star facility, away in the mountains of western North Carolina, Andon-Reid is your choice. And, when you are there, ask the owners to tell the stories of the history on the Inn.

"Beautiful B&B with Amazing Owners
Jul 28, 2017
We had a wonderful short stay at the Andon-Reid house. We stayed in the Grand Library suite, which was so beautiful. The bathroom is so unique and amazing! There are comfy outdoor areas to hang out, a super fun basement game room and cozy main room with fireplace and seating areas (complete with yummy teas/coffee and an afternoon snack!). The common areas are the best of any B&Bs we've ever been to! The breakfast was delicious and very filling. The owners are so welcoming and thoughtful—they even checked in to let us know they were available for a ride if we got caught in the rain on our walk back from dinner (truly went above and beyond!). We are looking forward to going back for a longer stay. If you're debating this B&B vs. others in the area, know that you can't go wrong with the Andon-Reid!
