Castle of Montalto

Absolutely amazing

We were two couples age late 50's to early 60's. Stayed in the tower for 2 weeks and found it absolutley amazing. Our hosts Diana, Giovanni and Alessandro made us feel so very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The tower was just as we expected, full of charm, character and creak and of course the resident ghost as befits a castle. We enjoyed our walks through the woods and out lesiurely lunches under the patio. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot, and the kitchen was well laid out and practical.
The nearest train station (Bucine) is 20 minutes away (if you drive like an Italian) and 25 minutes or so if you come from anywhere else, from there you can of course connect to anywhere in Europe. We utilised this method of transport to visit Florence (for the day) and Venice for an over night stay. Both trip abour 2 hours each way.
We adored our time at the castle and have only positive memories of our stay in every way.
