Trails End... our comments rick -- Mar 17, 2010 08:15 pm We have stayed there for one week for each of ten years and have found the owners to be appreciative, eager to please, and friendly. This is THE area of the Adirondacks high peaks for hiking, and should not be confused with children's entertainment such as rides, fast food restaurants (there aren't any), and similar entertainment. To seek such activities, Lake George might be more to your liking. Trails End is off the main road by about a third of a mile, and avoids the road noises that similar establishments have down the road. The trail to Rooster Comb can be started right from their parking lot. There are two restaurants within walking distance: The Ausable Inn (causal and local guests) and The Great Range (causal and more refined in their menu and wine list). Do not let their "average store front" appearance to indicate this restaurant is anything below N.Y.C. acceptance. It is not. |
