This place is a simple local hotel with a comfy feel, and a helpful and courteous staff. The rooms are elegant and well taken care of. The city center is just down the road, therefore there are many stores, restaurants, shops, clubs, and other types of entertainment near by. It is also fairly centered on Costa Rica so the Pacific and the Caribbean and within a few hours travel. Tours can be booked right at the front office, and there is an attached restaurant, pool and hot tub to make your stay a bit more relaxing. Overall, it is a great place, and I will stay there again :)

This place is great. Easy to get to via the bus (though not recommended to take the bus at night. Just take a taxi from the airport for around $28). We didn't actually stay in San Jose for more than one night, but the owner was VERY helpful in letting us know how far it was to get to the places we wanted to go. You get a lot of different time estimates on travel because some roads that were dirt are now paved. Overall, would definitely recommend if you are looking to stay in San Jose for a few nights!

I stayed in a Standard Room, next time I'll stay in the newly renovated rooms the owner showed me, very beautifully done. The free breakfast was very nice, good coffee, nice staff. The pool was cold, not for swimming, but sound of the waterfall pleasant. The walk to the central area of San Jose is quick and lots of good stuff going on.
The one sour note was arriving...the young woman at the desk had to be reminded to help me with my rolling luggage, so maybe this is someone else's job, especially if you're climbing the stairs. I also booked a taxi with the same woman, then found it wasn't booked when I came in later in the day to confirm my very early morning taxi (??). The man at the desk booked it for me, again, and it arrived right on time.
