The hotel is lovely, in a townhome that is at a perfect location, in the beautiful Bloomsbury neighborhood walking distance to 3 tube stations, Oxford Circus, Soho, etc. The rooms are rather small but fine as long as you're not expecting an American-style accommodation. (heads up: there is no elevator) There is a lovely small garden and cute sitting areas, as well as room service and breakfast in the downstairs area. I would ask to be in the central building where the lobby is because they have others on the same block. Also, I would ask for a room NOT facing the street. The staff is very attentive. I would stay here again.

Made a 5 day trip to London in Oct 2009. The Academy turned out to be a fantastic value with a great location and high quality accomodations. This is a small botique hotel that is very nicely done with a young, very helpful staff. We stayed in a junior suite which may be the better value for size and comfort. The hotel has two very nice sitting rooms which open into gardens. The staff put in extra effort to be helpful with directions, reservations for a show, and local travel. Very near British Museum, walking distance to Tube stations, and Charlotte Street retaurants. Overall, a very enjoyable stay at a quality hotel for a reasonable (for London) price.

We chose this hotel because of location near Euston Station -- actually turned out to be five blocks. A good location for anyone going to any Univ. of London buildings in the area.
Room had a king bed and airconditioning, which we appreciated, but that left no room for opening even two small suitcases. Bathroom was a former closet, one person at a time for toothbrushing. Shower had fancy gel and shampoo, but also black mold in the corners. Nice garden in the quiet courtyard behind the building.

This hotel was recommended to my wife and I by our son who is working in London. We were so glad he did as we found it to be a charming, delightful boutique hotel which was perfect for our needs. The service was excellent - personal but unobtrusive. Our room (a suite) was very spacious with a king size bed, separate sitting room and a good size bathroom with separate bath and shower. There are several intimate lounges and a cosy bar within the hotel all adding to the homely, friendly atmosphere. Truely ""a gem"" in the centre of London.
