Overall the vacation you can take at this resort is unmatched on the island. This is the only resort that provides a nanny in the all inclusive price. Its right on the ocean, has boats for snorkeling/scuba, water slides for the kids, a pool, kids club, and the other amenities you would expect at an all inclusive type property. We have stayed here 3-4 times now and always trust the nanny with our daughter. In fact both the nanny and kid cry when we leave! The food is good, but dont expect a huge spread like some of the larger resorts but there is an ample selection of good food. The nanny more than makes up for this in my opinion. The resort it self has a small swim area that is great for the little ones. If you prefer a bigger beach, you are free to use the beach in front of the hotel next door. The staff is very attentive and quick to help with the kid(s) when needed. Entertaiment includes local acts and a one man band nightly. Kids are entertained by staff until 10pm. The rooms are large compared to most resorts I have stayed in on the island.

I selected FDR resorts due to the great reviews. I was not impressed and very disappointed. I strongly believe your feeling regarding your stay is directly related to the attentiveness and interaction of the nanny. We never developed a personal connection with ours. She did not keep our fridge stocked. I saw her watching TV on 3 occasions. I would have liked her to stay with us more with our son instead of taking him away. As for the rest of our experience; Pros: *Large Rooms, we stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 1/2 bath 2 story room. A full kitchen, and large patio with the view of the ocean. It was very convenient with our one year old. *Great View of the Ocean *Lots of toys on the beach and several play areas *Beautiful white sand beach on the other side of the fence *Complimentary Shopping Excursion was nice *Snorkeling was a fun experience Cons: *Air Conditioning did not work in the bedroom for the first day *The Jacuzzi did not work for the entire 7 day trip *The gift shop did not carry small enough shirts for my son to tye-die, and we did not bring one, thinking they would be available. *We requested a glass bottom boat ride 3 days in a row and finally gave up. They did take us on a snorkeling trip, and called that the dual tour but we really wanted to take our son with on just the boat ride. *Bartenders(one specifically) was extremely rude and unwilling to make drinks. In previous trips to Jamaica, we have enjoyed 'Jamaican Smiles' which are simply half pina colada/half strawberry daiquiri with a run cream float. I was really looking forward to the drink as rum cream is not available at home. It was a nightmare to get one made. *The pool got dirtier everyday, by day 7 I didn't even want to go in, there was a odd film and you could not even see through the water. The water slides were never going. *I called ahead to make sure soy milk would be available(son is allergic to milk) was told it would be readily available. And it was not. It was not stocked in our fridge and when we needed it, we had to wait until someone went to the store to get it. We also had to purchase bottle water. *The gym is open-air! Talk about 'sweating it out'. Only one treadmill worked properly, the other two needed service. The belts would skip and almost send me flying. The rest of the equipment looked so dirty, I did not touch it. It was not staffed or stocked with towels and/or water. *Lack of activities. (We understood that the beginning of September would be a slow time, but we had to get everyone together and ask staff members to make any activities happen) There were 4 families there with us and 2 were having a great time and 2 were very disappointed. *The resident photographer only took pictures on one occasion, in the pool, and at the end of our trip, he told us he had lost them. All in all, there were some okay parts and most of the staff was accommodating. But I would not recommend this resort. And did not find my vacation relaxing due to the fact I was always stressed about something that was wrong."

First let me say I have stayed in ninety percent of the big name hotels in Jamaica. This hotel is on the smaller side. It has under 80 rooms but the rooms are twice the size of a normal hotel room. That being said, the hotel is out dated. Don't let that steer you away! For me its worth staying in a dated hotel if the rooms are large, and the food + service are good. Food: Breakfast was fruit, breads, bacon, sausage, smoothies, and made to order eggs/omelets. Lunch was changed up daily in the buffet with 2 protein or fish choices salads, bread, and desert. The grill was also open for sandwiches or jerk chicken. Dinner: We ate mostly at the main restaurant. Order off a menu and you are served in courses. This part of the food was excellent! Different sauces and main course choices nightly. The fish and chicken items were awesome, I didn't try the veggie options or the pork as I know it has a tendency to be tough and or fatty in Jamaica. Overall the service was outstanding for all meals. Entertainment was very basic for Jamaica, but ok for newbies I guess. The nanny that comes with the stay is a great addition. You can trust them, they are all certified and most have their own children. We were comfortable leaving our daughter with the nanny (Evelyn). She did what ever my daughter wanted and showed her all kinds of great things on the property. They both cried when we left! Looks like we will have to head back again!

Upon our arrival, I was first struck by a general sense of age and tiredness in regards to the grounds. However, I Immediately realized that there was more than met the eye here. The guests who were already there were obviously enjoying themselves tremendously, and they were so warm and welcoming to us. The staff at the resort also made their sevice oriented approach known, as we were disappointed with a third story room with lots of steps, and an infant in a stroller to deal with. They understood our dilemma and before we knew it, we had been switched to a more appropriate first floor room. We brought four children with us on this trip, boys aged 1, 7, 11 and 14. The nanny took most excellent care of the baby, but the other boys wanted to be on their own. They played on their own schedule, snorkeled, ate, swam, took tennis lessons and had an amazing time, while their dad and I exercised, took advantage of the "quiet area" and even left the property for a day trip. Overall, a great experience for all!

  • Dissapointing all the way around!!!

The photos looked semi ok. We were trying to save a few bucks. You get what you pay for in this case I guess. Complete opposite of what I expected. Should have stayed at a grimy hotel in the states. The pool areas were small. The service was poor. I would have to guess that the hotel is paying people to write reviews about how great this place is really not! Use your own judgement.
