This will be our 4th year at this hotel. The staff has proven to be very comforting. I do find the beds to be a little hard however at my request they provided a cusion. Carlos is a great bartender and service over all is excellent. Food is good not over the top great but not over priced either. This hotel has been a great get away for us and we plan on returning for a long time.

CONSIDERING THIS HOTEL?... BE ADVISED: Excessively loud nightclub noise/music is a real problem at this hotel. The hotel is surrounded by three nightclubs and they are permitted to party on until 5:00 am, or beyond, seven days a week! These are open air nightclubs, so the building does not contain the sound. The open style hotel architecture and single pane windows, that do not seal, contributes to the transmission of this offensive sound. These clubs go long and loud even if they have only a few customers. One morning I visited these clubs at 2:30 am, because I was unable to sleep. Carlos & Charlies had only a few customers and Park Royal had seven customers, all were seated at the bar. No one appeared to be particularly interested in the music, but the music volume was still excessive! When they do have a large group of people the noise is unbearable, especially when they add a screaming D.J. to the scenario. I spent the last two weeks of January 2008 at this hotel. The excessively loud music, especially the booming base and the highly amplified D.J. chatter, was very annoying and it limited my ability to sleep. I know that other guests had the same problem and some insisted that they be moved to another hotel.
Before I chose this hotel I was aware that the Carlos & Charlies nightclub was adjoining the hotel property and I knew that it would be loud. I also knew that if I was given a room on that end of the hotel I would eventually be able to change rooms. That is what happened, so I asked the hotel management to move me far away from Carlos & Charlies. They moved me to the other end of the hotel, but they never informed me that there is another nightclub adjoining this end of the hotel, on the Park Royal property! Nor did they inform me that there is a city night club across the city boulevard facing the front of the hotel! I had to learn all of this the hard way.... I moved rooms four times and there was no escaping the noise! A room on the ocean side in the middle of the hotel was the least offensive location. I had only three nights of relative calm during my fourteen day stay. I will not return to this hotel or any other on this end of the beach.

Problem: Guests reserving poolside tables & chairs
I recently returned from a two week stay at the Posada Real Hotel, Ixtapa. There is indeed an active informal, hotel policy permitting guests to reserve poolside tables & chairs. Hotel management does nothing to discourage the practice and in fact they encourage it. Each day, these self centered guests leave their towels, books and other personal items on the desired tables and chairs, thus insuring that they have the same site at the pool. This was done, day after day, at most of the poolside tables. Hotel management never removed these "reserving" items at the end of the day, thus encouraging this behavior. When I complained, the hotel management suggested that I do the same. I didn't take their advice, because that goes against my concept of fair play. One group of guests, from Brownville, WI, created their own little compound area by pulling two tables and extra chairs together and that was their exclusive domain for the duration of their stay. No other guests could even use that area of the pool deck without moving their personal items. This is not fair for the other guests. The hotel management team should not permit this practice.
