We came for the long Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend. Our three priorities: 1) sleeping in, 2) full hot breakfast at the hotel, and 3) good customer service. All three of these things were a problem. The decent rooms did not make up for this. Upon arrival, the front desk invited us to the full breakfast bar from 7-11am. That night, we ordered room service. The salad was pretty good, but the pizza was bland at best and gave us heartburn after eating just once slice! While we were sleeping, the alarm clock suddenly went off at midnight, after which we could not return to sleep (in part because of a noisy neighbor). In the morning, we ate at about 10:35 am. For a hotel buffet, it was fairly good and complete. So far everything else about the hotel *appeared* to be great, so I politely informed the desk of our troubles. A few hours later, the manager offered a free breakfast and an opportunity to move to another room. The 2nd morning (Valentine's Day) we slept in and went to eat at 10:45. The waiter said they had closed at 10:30. When we complained, the front desk once again offered us a free breakfast. We won't be eating either free breakfast since tomorrow will be our last morning, last chance to sleep in. Apparantly, on weekdays, they close at 10:00 am, (which I assume means 9:30). They seem to have a mindless pat response to customer complaints: "would you like a free breakfast?"

The desk staff is friendly and helpful. During the Christmas holidays a fire burned in the lobby and it felt warm and inviting. The desk staff greeted me each time I entered the hotel. On Christmas night, the staff member engaged in a discussion that allowed me to share my day of joy visiting family. When I mentioned that the only thing missing was having a cup of hot cocoa before bed, he got me some that I could make in my room and sip in my jammies. It was a wonderful 3 day experience for a woman travelling alone. Felt safe and secure the whole time.
