Granted, I don't travel often but when I do, I typically choose a 4 star hotel. I didn't have that option for this trip but it was only a short one - for business. I chose to stay at the Doubletree because it was very close to the office location.
I enjoyed (ironically) that upon checking in, the front desk agent rattled off the features and amenities of the hotel including that it was a completely non-smoking property. That explains why the lobby reeked of smoke smell. It continued into the elevator bank and onto the floor my room was on. At least she gave me a tasty cookie.
The room itself was ok. It has air conditioning - plus. Minus - needs a few minor repairs. Wallpaper was starting to bubble and peel up from inadequate de-humidifying (not sure if the shower ventilation fan was broken, or non-existent inside the vent) and the lamp that provides convenient outlet plugs, one was broken. Had to choose between laptop power and charging my cell phone. The grout in the bathroom was pretty discolored, but overall the bathroom was clean.
The other down side is that it's not really in a walkable location. You pretty much have to take a cab (ask if they take CC's before you get in the car. Not all of them do. Learned that the hard way) anywhere as the complimentary hotel shuttle, which is "first come, first served" will be booked-up for several hours later than you want it. Not sure how "booking" occurs when it's "first come, first served"...
Lastly on the Con's list is that I'm pretty sure my sheets were not fresh. Or at least maybe just not laundered very well. There were small spots and a certain hair from a certain place that most certainly did not come from my person... Ick.
The Pro's include - generally very nice staff especially the room service attendant, the tasty cookie, pretty comfortable bed, and super soft fluffy towels (not the usual sandpaper textured towels from most hotels).Â
I'm not sure if the Con's were the usual things you make allowances for in a 3 star hotel, so I have no animosity toward Doubletree. I expected more, but it wasn't terrible.
Great place to stay. Clean, fresh and priced right

There are many choices available in this class of hotel, budget / short stay / business traveler. Having tried most I prefer the DoubleTree Hiltons. The Norwalk location is clean and up to date. The furnishings are new / look new, not worn like you sometimes find. The staff are friendly and I enjoyed great service. I would recommend this location and brand if you are on the road and need a place to overnight. I came away feeling I got what I paid for - doesn't often happen in hospitality...

Very nice room. Pleasantly surprised at the nice interior facility for a very decent room rate. Parking lot was striped so that the cars were somewhat close together, and disappointed that the only breakfast option was a buffet for & $16, but the McDonalds is only a block away.
This hotel was convient, easy to get to and comfortable. I will go again.

The hotel was close by, convenient to where I wanted to be and reasonable. The staff was welcoming when we arrived, gave us cookies, keys and were efficient. We didn't use the hotel facilities, but hope to next time we go. We are going back this weekend.
