My family recently stayed here for 3 nights. I feel really bad for writing this as I do feel the employees do the best they can do. When we checked in, we didn't get a room near my other family members, although we requested to be on the same floor. The elevators are totally gross, dirty and so stinky and slow. We held our breath everytime and hoped we didn't get stuck in them. We get to our room, nd our daughter who is 5 started crying about how yucky the hotel was, it was so sad. The bed skirt was filthy black, they changed it when we told them. We had deluxe ocean front with a balcony. The hotel has been renovated, but you can tell they had to do everything as inexpensive as possible. There are no closets, no dresser, no ironing boards, just the bed, chair and this weird wall entertainment type thing. Shower didn't drain well. There is no carpet, and I don't think they ever mop or sanitize the floor, although my aunt saw them with. Dry swifter. They never gave us the right amount of towels, never cleaned the toilet, and my daughter spilled some food on the bedding the first day and they never changed it for us. Oh, that poor place, what can I say. We are from Oahu and know to have low expectations for Hilo hotels' but man, I just couldn't believe it. Saw a cockroach in the day on the hall roof. But it's Hawaii. Half the hotel was shut down. You could see the lobby roof from our rooms nd there was this thick green moss mold stuff growing all over it.
Pool, beautiful location, very small, kinda dirty, not much shade or chairs. But still fun. The big pool appeared to have been closed for awhile, too bad we loved that pool on prior stays
Parking, I'll give them an A, close and easy and nice size stalls.
Clean, F, never ever felt somewhat clean. Â I just keep telling the kids, don't touch, leave your shoes on.
Location, A. Â Can't be beat, right on the ocean, near airport and restaurants.
It's really too bad about this place, it has beautiful grounds and a perfect location.  It really could be great, but unfortunately I guess the owner is trying but can't  afford it. Â
Never knew about the "free" breakfast.
They advertise 2 pools, only one was up, no room service, I didn't see a hotel restaurant, no valet parking, no bell service, not all rooms had coffee makers, most of what was advertised wasn't true, or at least we didn't see it.
Sorry naniloa, you used to be our favorite' but you really went downhill, it was pretty bad, and I feel bad for slamming you. Â But I had to be honest.

We were in Hilo for only 1 night and chose this hotel because it was lower priced and offered breakfast. The room had been nicely remodeled & clean, and the beds were comfortable. Very quiet. Pool but no beach. The hotel was dimly lit and the hallway smelled. Breakfast consisted of mini-muffins and mini-danish with coffee & fruit punch! (Fruit punch - who drinks this for breakfast????) You could pay extra for unappetizing buffet-style breakfast items. Received unsolicited wake-up call. One night was fine, but would seek other accommodations for a longer stay.

Just needed a place to sleep while in Hilo. There is no microwave in room, just at front desk for use with their own food. Air conditioning in room weak but sufficient. Their free breakfast was just toast and muffins. You can pay $10 for their deluxe breakfast buffet though. Bath tub drained slow, so you showered as the tub filled up. No wifi in room, only in lobby. They supply cable for laptop for the room but have limited supply so bring your own. TV reception was terrible. The lower channels were just static. Watched Youtube on my laptop sometimes instead.
Looks like they didn't finishing renovating this hotel. On the upside, room was very clean.
