Place wasn't the 5 star resort but for the money it was great. The place had a cabin type feel to the stay. The location on the island is perfect. There was plenty to do around the area and great places to eat, one place for breakfast that ended up being an everyday place was Kihei Caffe, GREAT BREAKFAST! The resort staff was great also they were very helpful and you could tell they were happy to help.

This hotel was an extremely good price! I thought that the quality would be poor since it was such a cheap room, but I was 100% wrong! The staff was unbelievably friendly and entertaining! I especially enjoyed Sunny, the front desk representative. Anything we needed, the staff would bring immediately. The outdoor set up is gorgeous and the rooms are simple, but clean and well kept. It's definitely a "home away from home" type of place. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again in the future.

Originally was given a room on the older side, near the main lobby area. Walked in the room and it was terrible!! Should have known when the front desk person gave us actual metal door keys that this hotel was in need of an overhaul. The room was dirty, dingy and smelled terrible. I read the reviews before and thought maybe it was just outdated and in need of some TLC. No! They should not even be renting out this room it was so bad. I can only assume the others on this side of the complex were similar. Stained green carpeting, dirty and stained everywhere, a very musty smell to room. Didn't feel comfortable even walking around barefoot, let alone sleep in the bed. We spoke to the man at the front desk, who was very nice, and he gave us 2 rooms to look at and see if they would work. They were both across the street on the beach. Those rooms were what I expected: outdated but clean and a good value for the money. Nothing fancy by any means, but a suitable room for a couple nights. The view was spectacular, literally right on the ocean. Bad part is that if you want anything from the lobby (movies, ice, soda, etc) you have to walk across a pretty busy street back to the main building. Daily fee of $10, but being that some hotels charge you to park, I wasn't bothered by this. I am glad to say that they were able to accomodate us, but had I known then what I do now, I would have found a better hotel for a little more money.

I tried to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt, having initially ignored other reviews I had read. The photos on the website looked nice enough, but boy was I ever horrified when I arrived. The hotel is very old and poorly maintained. I promptly checked out and when on down the road to another hotel. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that offer much better accommodations. Another reviewer wrote that he would rather sleep on the beach than in a room at the Aston Maui Lu, and I completely agree with him. He was not being overly-dramatic. The Aston Maui Lu has all the makings of an old-school children's summer camp.
