No unpleasant surprises here. The hotel is located slightly out of the way, but Portland isn't a big place and travel time by car to the Old Port is just a few minutes. The internet service was unusably slow, and the hotel was located in a Verizon 4G dead spot, so getting online access to tourism information was difficult.

The hotel was close to everything we wanted to do. Rooms were nice and clean. All staff was very courteous. There was two things that I was looking for to make my stay what I thought I wanted. I think it would be good to have a handicapp accessible room with two beds and not just one. I also wanted to stay where there was an indoor pool. In actuality, the room with double queen beds was more than adequate. I had so much fun in Maine that swimming at the hotel was never a thought. This was my first visit to the state of Maine, but I have no doubt that it was not my last. Thank you for making this such a GREAT time.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the condition/location of the hotel. First and foremost, the elevator makes a loud bang each floor that you fear for free fall at any moment. Then, we found hair all over the bathroom and even in the fresh towels :0! The beds were fair, FIRM! Now, the location appears to be close, (1 mile or so), for walking to main attractions in Portland, but IT IS FAR FROM IT! We tried walking, however the area is very shady, (lack of clear sidewalks/ bad part of town) and the people were very disturbing :( ! So, it cost us additionally to park close to attractions. Would have preferred to pay more for peace of mind! If you don't mind hair in your sink and on your fresh towels, go ahead and book La Quinta! :( :( BOO.

the hotel service was excellent. And the rooms were very clean, however the fourth floor smelled like smoke. The toilet kept stopping up but the maintenance did respond promptly and fix problem. The free breakfast was great but the room is small however they do allow you to use trays to take back to your room.
