1: First impressions: As we were walking into the building, one of the bellhops was holding his shirt up scratching himself and greeted us with "wassup." Classy.
2: Checking in: The front desk staff were anything but friendly. They seemed annoyed that I bothered to show up at all.
3: The room: The rooms I got (which was NOT what I requested) was SMALL. It wasn't just a bit tight -- it was about the size of my walk-in closet at home. The TV was similar to one I had about 20 years ago. Nothing on the "Guest Services" menu worked. The light in the bathroom was so dim, I had to leave the door open (rather inconvenient when you are not alone). The only good thing I can say about the room is that it was clean.
4: Ambiance: The bar in the hotel is not something I expected to see in a Marriott. There was a live band screaming rap lyrics, baggy jeans everywhere, rude staff and SMOKE EVERYWHERE. I have nothing against a hip-hop club, but there should not be one in a family hotel. When we left, the 'bouncer' wouldn't let us go through the door from the bar into the hotel. I told him it was dark and I didn't want my female companion to have to walk outside in the dark with the seedy (many were OBVIOUSLY high and drunk) crowd. He said "I don't care what you want, go outside." Well, we did. As we were walking through the lobby, he was letting others through. Nice. Once again, classy.
This was a terrible, and for a Marriott, HIGHLY disappointing. Never again. I'll be in HIlton from now on.

I wasn't going to rate this hotel, thinking that our experience had to be a one time thing, but seeing another review of the dirty rooms, I see it wasn't...... Our room was really filthy! Strange stains on everything from the lamp shades to the chairs, to the walls and the carpet. I can't imagine what could have been on the bed spread..... We decided not to stay, even in another room.... They need to take a hard look at their cleaning staff and the state of their rooms.
